A Manatee County Sheriff's deputy was forced to resign after he forced an intoxicated woman to the ground then left her there for several minutes as she bled from the head.
Deputy Kenneth Smith resigned from his job of nearly 14 years on Feb. 10 as investigators scrutinized whether he acted wrongly when he threw the woman and the impact split her forehead.
A video of the incident at Manatee Memorial Hospital was released today.
