ORLANDO --
One person is in critical condition after being involved in an officer-involved shooting.
A state trooper fired at a suspect in his car, but the suspect fled, and crashed into a home. The car hit the house and flipped upside down at the corner of Lake Sunset and Texas Avenue.
"The cop shot through the window and the guy just sat there for a minute and then he just drove off like 15 miles per hour," said a witness, who would only identify herself as Shaun.
The incident began at Carter and Tampa Avenue, just blocks from the Florida Classic game.
Investigators said the suspect tried to hit the state trooper with his car.
Witnesses said they saw the trooper's bullet go right through the suspect's front windshield.
"I mean he was trying to hit him. You don't hit a law enforcement officer. It's just something you don't do," Shaun said.
The trooper had been in the middle of the intersection helping direct traffic.
"There are hundreds of thousands of people, probably. They have a heavy police presence they are posted all over the intersections. As I understand it, this is the result of another incident that occurred out here," said Florida Department of Law Enforcement official Tony Rodriguez.
FDLE said it believes the suspect may have hit a person, before trying to hit the officer.
"I only see stuff like this in the TV, but I seen it today. I don't want to see it again," Shaun said.
FDLE said it's investigating the incident.
The suspect is in critical condition. It is not known if his injuries are from this accident or being shot by a state trooper.
