ITS NEVER ABOUT COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS. FOR THE POLITICIANS AND THE PBA.

There are only a little over 2000 PO's. PO's have the statewide reputation as being consistent whiners and complainers no matter what is done for them. Administrators, government officials and politicians are aware of the reputation of PO's. With this being said, they all avoid anything to do with PO's as they all know whatever they do, PO's will still not be happy. It is sad, but all one would have to do is log onto this website to see the mentality of PO's.

Until, PO's have a change in attitude, bond together as one, and understand that each PO needs to support their fellow PO's we will continue to remain floundering without a voice!

Two thousand PO's bonding together? Yes, real politcal power. We have no power or hope!

Scott said he will privatize us and give a pay cut to the CO's.

I don't doubt we do a little whinning from time to time. Most of it justified. In FY 2000, there were 5,000 plus probation officers and aproximately 100,000 offenders. In FY2010 there are little over 2,000 probation officer positions and 160,000 offenders. Of course requirements have increased also in the intervening years.

We have been consistently underfunded while the prisons have used our position money to fund overtime and used our empty positions to buffer any position loss to the same- thanks to Central Office and thanks to the PBA.

At the same time, we've had wild swings in policy from arrest to no arrest. All the while we've been putting our ass out there with no training.... and doing the job thank you very much.

Whine? Maybe.

Scott won't make it any better so KMA.

Sink she maybe kinder and gentler. Just maybe.

You seem to have it wrong. Corrections is going bye bye if Scott gets in, along with state pensions. Probation may get phased out in the long term, but Scott will privatize all of the rest of the prisons. As for pensions, anyone close to retirement is probably going to get screwed, and any new employees will get their 401k's. Your best hope is Alex Sink, she will at least veto those crazy bills that Crist also vetoed last year. A vote for Scott is a vote against all state employees and anyone who has a state pension.

No. I don't have it wrong.

I can distinguish between a common enemy that must be beaten and a follow on war that has to be won.
