I was browsing and this thread caught my attention, I have heard the term used "at will employee" and here is your answer, It is used when you have a less than professional organization that abuses its power, In this state, Florida, all entities must follow the legal guidelines example: it is illegal for anyone to discriminate, retaliate or harass anyone for any reason. Everyone falls under a protected class ie: race, gender, religion or age.
If a contract is in place however, and you agree the agency can make administrative decisions without cause, then you have placed yourself in a very vulnerable position.
If you are a full time employee (earning more than32 hours a week) with benefits you have many legal tools to protect yourself. Dont be a victim and beleive everything you are told. Research and challenge these abused terms such as "At will employee".I hope this will give a little guidance.
