I love the SunSentinel article (sarcasm inserted). Mayor Wishner complains about the OT amounts??? He and the other members of the City Commission should examine the benefits they have voted to give themselves. Or perhaps they should look back at the extravagant benefits they give Salerno. Where else does a part time employee get FREE medical benefits for life? Perhaps the Mayor and Commission should think about giving back some of their perks before slamming the police for EARNING overtime. Funny that the article never mentions the off duty detail administrative fee the city collects for officers working on the off time.
While I agree that overtime should be managed, look at all the assets the VIN forfeited in '09. I'm sure those numbers greatly exceed the overtime amounts. Is it not odd that since the FOP endorsed Wishner's opponent he now takes the opportunity to slam those very people that got him re-elected to the City Commission a few years ago?
