That's because Florida has the best AGENCIES in all of United States.......the best agencies are TAMPA Police and Hillsborough Sheriff they do the best work in america!!!!!!

LOL well atleast you florida folk are entertaining. How often do you get mistaken for security guards with those white shirts? C'mon be honest!

Florida is not the best by far. I think LA is hands down doing a much better job than any other agency including Florida given the manpower issues and out gunned issues. Be safe in LA and California, one who worked for me went back and I encouraged it given the politics, lack of backing and BS in Florida.

LOL ok keep telling yourself that, just because you guys have abunch of idiot gang member's doesn't mean shi*t, i will bet $1000 Tampa police does better job's on the street or in general then LAPD or any agency out there in california.....especially when it comes down to SHOOTING!!!!

08-09-2010, 03:15 AM
Yeah you guys did such a great job with Rodney King and the O.J. fiasco. Ohhh and how about doing absolutely nothing while Reginald Denny got his melon bashed in with a cinder block! Let's not forget the Rampart CRASH scandal where more than 70 police officers in the CRASH unit were implicated in misconduct, making it one of the most widespread cases of documented police misconduct in United States history. The convicted offenses include unprovoked shootings, unprovoked beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery, perjury, and covering up evidence. It only cost the city taxpayers $125 million in settlements. And then there was that minor setback of a federal consent decree which led to the oversight of LAPD by the U.S. Justice Dept. Yeah you guys rock!!

Please don't think all TPD/Florida officers think like this guy.Take care and god bless Ofc. J.Neil

I'm a cop in Miami-Dade County, I really don't think tampa has a serious Crime problem. I take the four hour drive up there with my kids just to get away sometimes. If that idiot that works tampa wants to see what some nasty stuff is like. Take a drive through some Miami hoods(OPA LOCKA, LIBERTY CITY, OVERTOWN, ETC), Tampa is a nice place to live, Keep it like that!!!!! :D

lol miami dade is garbage i have a friend that works for the police dept. and he hates it, Funny thing is he wants to move up to central florida and work for TPD. i kinda agree with how good their agencies are, oh and you said tampa doesn't have any serious crimes?? you moron's don't have cops dieing in your street like they do...i give them ALOT of credit to taking the crime rate very serious and deadly. I'm in winter haven and our police is way better then any agency in miami!

The elite law enforcement unit in Florida might just be the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Tampa police all day everyday!!!!! :cop:

your not even a cop so GTFO!!!

LAPD officers cant think unless their Sgt is there to hold their hand for them. Lets not forget LAPD has been under federal consent decree for more than a decade due to their non stop screw ups.

LA Co Sheriff is a much better agency when it comes to patrol.

LAPD officers dont hold a candle to the bad ass LA County Sheriff Deputies. LAPD officers can wipe their own ass without a Sgt. showing up holding their hand.

Much better agencies in Californian than LAPD.

Child all large Dept. have problems, their more open to putting out their crap when elections are coming up. I've worked in LE since 1980 in 3 different places in Fl. Pinellas County, Broward and now Miami PD. (sad to say) I had a chance years ago to go to LAPD like an ass I stayed in Miami.

HCSD and TPD you all no room to talk about anyone else you all had your problems too.
Your depts. are just better keeping it mostly out of the news. LAPD for their size is a good dept with a lot of good people up and down the ranks.

Try working in Pensacola they have it worse than miami-dade :cop:

Overall crime was up 5.6 percent in Escambia County during 2012 according to new data released Thursday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, while the state’s indexed crime rate declined about 6.5 percent during the same period.
Escambia County’s overall crime rate — 5,656.2 crimes per 100,000 residents — was the highest in the state in 2012, followed by Miami-Dade at 5,129.3 indexed crimes per 100,000 residents.
During the year, the overall crime index was up 5.6 percent. Murders increased 38 percent, from 16 to 22, forcible rapes decreased very slightly from 169 to 162, robberies fell 11 percent, aggravated assaults jumped 23 percent, burglaries were up 23 percent, larcenies were almost unchanged going from 9,908 to 9,920, and motor vehicle thefts were down about 7 percent.
The Escambia County crime numbers include crimes in the jurisdictions of all law enforcement agencies in the county, including the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Pensacola Police Department, University of West Florida Police Department, Pensacola State College Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol.
Of the 22 murders last year in Escambia County, 15 were in the county and seven were in the city of Pensacola. Totaled indexed crimes were up 5.9 percent in the county, 4.4 percent in the city. LOL I guess this Los Angeles, CA post has turned into a Florida post with Miami-Dade Police bashing Tampa police on who has the greatest crime rate.

The bottom line, law enforcement in Florida sucks! I was a Police Officer in Los Angeles for 6 years before I decided to move my family to Florida so I could give my children a "better quality of life". I was hired as a Deputy Sheriff, took a 50% pay cut and I have regretted it for the last 19 years. Yes, my children received an outstanding education and we paid little for their college education (Florida Bright Futures, Pre-paid college fund and scholarships) but what is really lacking is a true brotherhood amongst the deputies and officers from all the surrounding agencies, it's almost like a disease. There is more internal bashing, back stabbing and gripe from all the rank and file, it's become a countdown until retirement. There aren't division family get togethers for fear some IA puke will be in the background with a camera taking notes. Since most of Florida only works one man units, I think there is a lack of brotherhood bonds from the beginning, you're trained and continue to work a solo unit your entire career unless you're an FTO.

It's too late to go back now, too much time has been invested since my kids had graduated. LAPD is a very professional organization and yes it has it's problems as does every agency but for what's it worth, LAPD is still a role model many other agencies in every state should follow. 70 officers of the almost 10,000 officers of the LAPD went amok. Thats about the ratio of what we have in Florida, it just doesn't make the news.

I live in Tampa and I lived in LA (and worked) as well. Tampa is a country club compared to some areas of LA. Tampa traffic is the Autobahn compared to traffic on the 405 or the 101. Anyone who thinks TPD is better trained or more knowledgable than anyone working in LAPD or LASD is sadly misinformed. The TPD officers are some of the most uninformed and inexperienced guys around. When you can roll to a call 6 cars deep and can let someone take the handle on a report every time, you can pretty much go an entire patrol career without handling a single case. LAPD and LASD have the best officer safety practices and the most squared away guys. TPD flies by the seat of their pants most of the time. I have respect for all who wear the badge, but there is NO comparison between an LA cop and a Tampa one. Sorry.

You said it. The brotherhood is nonexistent in Florida. Hell, half of the guys pushing the green and white these days won't even wave at another patrol car. It's pretty sad. The backstabbing is definitely a major issue.

Any of you who feel the need to bash another agency in a time like this has NO use in law enforcement. We are to be on the same side, yet you all want to measure ****s when we all just need to zip up and stand together. Quit thinking any agency is better than the other. We are all in this fight together. Grow up or move on. Sound like a bunch of jr high/middle school babies. All agencies matter!

Polk County has the BEST Sheriff in the US ...by far.......if you haven't seen him look him up on you tube...
he takes NO SHIT from ANYONE......he will put the asshole reporters in their place when they hit him with a stupid question at the news conference after an incident. I did not work for Polk County or Grady Judd, I moved here after I retired from another SO in south Florida and all I can say is Grady Judd is the best!

Check these out and search for more if you want to see what a REAL Sheriff is:
