A former Cape Coral police officer accused of mortgage fraud pleaded guilty in court today to loan and application fraud.
Former Sgt. James O達rien, 37, faces up to 30 years in federal prison.
According to his plea agreement, filed last week, O達rien falsified a loan application for a house in order to pay for his first mortgage. He lied about the price of the house, his monthly income, his checking account balance among other things.
JPMorgan Chase gave O達rien a $593,750 loan, which included a payoff of $150,000, which went to other corporate entities, operated by members of a $4.2 million mortgage fraud scheme, including former Cape Coral police Officer Stephen Petrovich
