Is Proffesional Courtesy Dead?

Just was wondering from FHP.....Is proffesional courtesy dead in Taylor County? Wish I had a dollar for every Trooper Ive backed up on a long dark highway, or every Trooper I have extended my hand too...Just not sure why some Troopers feel the need to write a "FULL BOAT" citation and not use discression when encountering those of us that are on the same team.

I just hope this one Trooper does not represent the vast Troopers in this State...I have always respected you guys and will still back up my local Troopers when they call for help. Fine will be paid but just very disapointed right now and shocked at this experience. Trooper no matter how you feel I would still stand by you in a fight...I will still roll in the ditch with the thug trying to take your life...and I will still step in the line of fire for you as a fellow brother.

This guy is not a real cop... To make a 17 over UTC sound like the crime of the century shows how immature this punk is, if he is a cop at all. Real troopers need to get these kids under control pretty soon. I agree as well, some troopers just are idiots when it comes to this, no one else cares about us (police, deputies, troopers) but fellow LEO's and believe or not the Medic's/ FD as well. Those fools who write fellow LEO's and EMS/FD/ Nurses/ Doctors for minor infractions are just plain stupied.....They need to pull thier head out of thier ass and wake up. If not then they need to stop calling for back-up, traffic control and other assistance from these other agencies.... :cop: :shock:

Yeah it is a shame there are troopers out there, especially Trooper W. in Hernando Co. that likes to write LEO.

I just hope one day he finds himself in the same position. He deserves the same treatment, however like most LEO's he will be given the professional pass.

Professional Courtesy is not dead!

Some Troopers may be too stupid to see the big picture! The Troopers once identified need to be placed in a zone or area where they work, and need the support and friendship of other law enforcement agencies.

Wait until speed enforcement goes to camera enforcement and then we will all be screwed! Until then guys do the right thing and protect each other when you go to battle you do not care about race, color, creed, agency or any other thing. Remember its law enforcement against those who want to hurt us and our communities.

A fellow law enforcement officer going a little fast to make it home, would never be driving to fast to stop and help you out if you needed it.

More than likely he will not find himself in the same position. Most (not all but most) troopers don't put themselves in that position.

Don't be so naive. You know as well as I do our profession makes us drive a bit more aggressive then any others. We do it in a manner to get to our brothers and sisters quickly as well to get to calls rapidly to serve the people who pay us. Granted it may lead to bad habits, but we do it for a cause. For those of you who do not recognize this and insist on being the "big guy" you just prove to the rest of us that you probably really don't belong in this profession. I am not speaking of the reckless or intoxicated off duty officer, I am speaking merely for the ones that may be a bit heavy on the foot at times. You have discretion, use it wiselly as you may wish it be done for you one day.

You all are very correct that you back us up a lot. You save our butts on a daily basis. Can't imagine how the highway patrol would function without your assistance. So I have made it a personal policy that I will write no law enforcement officer a traffic ticket....unless they work 100 miles outside of the area I work or another state. That will definitely no tick off anybody that I have to rely on coming to save me. Thanks for the great advice city kitties and county mounties... :devil:

You all are very correct that you back us up a lot. You save our butts on a daily basis. Can't imagine how the highway patrol would function without your assistance. So I have made it a personal policy that I will write no law enforcement officer a traffic ticket....unless they work 100 miles outside of the area I work or another state. Don't worry about them coming to save you; they will simply almost run you over as they violate the Move-Over law and speed past you at 90 MPH in the lane next to where you are stopped as they are 10-51 to roll call or 10-51 to their 10-42.

You do realize that the off duty officer that stops to save your ass will probably be out side your guidelines. Keep writing them tickets though. The legislatures need a pay raise.

Troopers have to do that, if you're a real cop, don't speed cause you get people for that same reason. Why let you go? Because you're a local cop? Showed him your id? I'd be ashamed of being a cop doing 17 over, because I get people everyday for doing this shit so my mind wouldn't be clear when I go to sleep night.

I know of many of your "officers" in 24 years that have tried to apply, couldn't get hired by the FHP, and went to your agency (or when you were two seperate ones) instead. Don't know of ANY that applied to YOUR agency, couldn't get hired, and came to us instead. What does that say about the quality of people you hire and have hired for years? :oops: As far as

Many? MANY?... I don't know of ONE? I do know of one Officer that went through the entire academy again to be a State Trooper, but she came from Marine Patrol. If somebody left FHP to be a game officer, it's because they want to be in the woods. We do not have a mass exodus of State Troopers that are itching to go out and count how many crappies somebody caught. Troopers that leave FHP do so to make more money. You will not make more money working for a crappie agency like FWC.

He is my boss, not my dad.
He probably wouldn't accept your call.
He would be uspet at YOU for bothering him with this.

He would tell you that he will take care of me on Monday (yeah ok buddy).
He would have me written up (oh no I forgot, he can't discipline me for a policy violation that is committed off duty anymore). Unless it brings discredit to the agency of course.

He most likely say what kind of LEO are you to rat out another cop over a traffic offense. He would also put out an order requiring us to obey the speed limit when backing up on calls for your agency.

When are you guys going to learn that a cop driving a little too fast is not the end of the world but a cop getting hurt is. Worry about the important stuff and protect each other.

Yeah this is stupid, Commerical cops, Agriculture Cops, Environmental Cops, Wildlife Cops and yes Drivers License Cops. Who cares what your title is- Why is it this is the only State agency on here in Florida thats gets more crap about writting other Cops??

Do you think you will ever grow up and get past this junk. Let's put it in perspective- 5 or 6 State LE agencies, 67 Sheriff's Office in Florida, Over 500 city and town Police Departments. HMMMMMM wheres the problem being originated at?
