Yes its a real show. He is actually the Deputy Chief of Police for the entire reserve unit, hes been with the department for 26 years and has put in his time and money and done a lot of good for the public image.
He hits the streets a few times a year, but of course he stepped it up for the camera crews.
But yes he is a fully certified deputy and does all the regular training and then some each year.
