Three people were injured after a car accident that involved a Broward Sheriff's deputy near the Swap Shop on Monday night.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. at Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 31st Street.

A deputy was driving a marked cruiser with its emergency lights activated when it collided with an SUV, the Sheriff's Office said.

The deputy and two people in the SUV were taken to Plantation General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Has anyone noticed the large amount of... accidents / injuries / FMLA cases / light duties since the famous 12 hour shifts started??? Is it worth officer safety?

Yeah, blame the 12 hr shifts. For years guys have worked their 8 and gone to a detail for several more hrs. or stayed OT for another shift. Now that you are mandated to work 12 hrs AND only work 3-4 days a week....it's unbearable. Grow up guys!

NO, now they are working 12 hr. shift, then details, court, children activities or O.T. in a (24 Hr. day.)!!!!!

And you spend your 4 days off how??? Learn to organize your life. You guys begged for 12 hr shifts.....congratulations you got what you wanted! Now live with it. I personally have a great time...........though I originally didnt want this.

dont complain about 12 hour shifts when you seem to spend that on here .........
