Bush did plenty wrong. Obama is the same. Wake up and do some reasearch . Look into the federal reserve (which is about as federal as federal express). There is no racism here, Obama is only half black and was raised by his white grandparents. His dad ran off after he got his mom pregnant, just like 70% of black males do today. Facts are facts.

Palin was not a good choice...

She was a great choice especially as as opposed to bad (McCain) and worse (Obama). Unfortunately, the Democrats gave us a Socialist and the Republicans offered Socialist lite as a follow-up to the excessive spending by G.W. Bush and the Democrat held Congress.

In June 2007 (her first budget year as Governor), in a transmittal letter (http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb/08_OMB/budget/Enacted/Transmittal_Letter_SB_53.pdf) to the Alaska Legislature, Gov. Palin outlined her vetoing of $230 million. Some of my favorites from this letter:
The budget goals for this administration have been very clear: to slow the growth of government, live within our means, and save for the future.

Our priorities for funding include basic government services for life, health, public safety, transportation, infrastructure development, and education.

Alaska is the only state in the nation that does not have an income tax or a sales tax. It actually refunds excess revenues to citizens, although some like activist Anne Kilkenny (http://www.ontheissues.org/Archive/2008_Wasilla_Budget_+_Economy.htm) find this offensive since the money is being spent on things like flat screens, ipods, and electronics. Apparently she views people as being too stupid to know what to do with their money and thinks the government should decide how to spend it, in this case on things like alternative energy.

And, important for the LEO crowd, I doubt she would get on national TV and first say she didn't have all the facts, and then comment that the police acted stupidly. Add to it this was in a matter that should be of no concern to the President as it was a local non-federal issue.

The duty of governing a state includes many functions that are not within the Constitutional scope of the federal government, such as education. As Senators, both McCain and Obama lacked this experience. Our current Congress continues to steamroll the 10th Amendment with excessive and unconstitutional spending on things that if they are to be addressed should be addressed by the states.

The country is in desperate need of a leader and more importantly representatives that will realize that we cannot continue to spend as we are doing, especially on unconstitutional things like health insurance. If you have a mortgage, power bill, etc. and your monthly expenses total $2,000 and you have $2,500 in income it is not wise to take on additional debt that will increase your monthly expenses beyond $2,500. This is really not hard to figure out. When you find yourself in that position, you have the choice of more income or lower spending. In the case of FHP Troopers, the income is called 10-208. For the government it is called the IRS. Cutting spending makes more sense. In the case of the "stimulus" bill, it would have made more sense financially to return a like amount to the people that pay taxes so as to stimulate the economy. Of course, if you believe the government knows best how to spend money, this will never happen.

If you believe health insurance is a Constitutional right and should be paid for by your fellow taxpayers, then you should have zero objections to the government subsidizing arms (i.e. guns) to taxpayers since that is an actual right. The same line of thinking was recently applied to automobiles with the $1 billion then suddenly $3 Billion debacle known as Cash for Clunkers. What gives the government the right to use my tax money to help someone else pay for a car?

Good post, if not a little misleading. The reason Alaska does not have sales or income tax is a little thing called the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Palin had exactly nothing to do with that. Kinda like how much impact Gore had on the internet.

I didn't agree with Cash for Clunkers either. Why did I have to pay for someone else to get a new car when my 5 YO car with 117000 miles that gets 35 mpg did not qualify.

I am all for socialized medicine. Here's why. I already pay for illegal aliens and single mothers to have babies and go to the emergency room and just claim indigent. They never see a bill. They don't pay for health insurance. I, on the other hand, pay high premiums because of them and then still have co-pays.

If they get a cavity they go to the free clinic. I make too much money to qualify.

The average illegal makes $9.75 an hour without any deductions. They get everything for free. Just like all these baby mamas and trailer trash on welfare. By the time my deductions are subtracted I make about $11.00 an hour and I pay for their medical.

Screw it, I want my piece. I paid for it.

Well, they have cars to drive, cellphones on their ear, enough money to send it back to their country, a roof over their head, and a cigarette in their mouths. If i seriously hurt or injured I'll be in their shoes in no time except I'll also have some outstanding medical bills.
