FHP trooper John Manna was taken to Bayfront Medical center with a broken rib after being hit by a car.
PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A 59-year-old Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured while responding to a traffic call Tuesday night.

According to the agency, trooper John Manna was standing on the side of U.S. 19, north of Curlew Road when the accident happened. He was responding to a crash that had recently happened with a Mercedes.

A Toyota truck was heading north in the right lane just after 7 p.m. when the driver lost control and hit the FHP cruiser. The cruiser then slammed into Manna and another man, Marion Nest of Palm Harbor.

The cruiser then hit the Mercedes in front of it and a tow truck, FHP said.

Manna was taken to Bayfront Medical center with a broken rib.

Nest also was hospitalized. His injuries were not released.

Community Service Officer. They can work crashes (nothing criminal) and help out the road troopers.

I am very happy the CSO is able to recover. Thanks for your dedication to the Patrol and hopes for a speedy recovery.

No new cars this year. Looks like some body shop is gonna have their work cut out for them on this job :cry:
