New Port Richey, Florida - Pasco Sheriff Bob White is putting out the call for eligible citizens to apply for several vacant deputy positions in the county's largest law enforcement agency.

The Pasco Sheriff's Office was awarded the third largest amount of federal stimulus funds in the state, which is being used to hire 24 new law enforcement deputies.

All applicants will need to visit the agency's Internet website at www.PascoSheriff.com (http://www.PascoSheriff.com) for information about the application process and possible employment disqualifiers.

Starting pay for a law enforcement deputy is currently $39,382 a year, but experienced personnel can receive a higher starting salary.

Successful applicants must:


1. Pass the physical fitness assessment which is scheduled twice a month at the Dade City campus of Pasco Hernando Community College.

2. Pass a background investigation, which includes a credit check, driving history check, criminal check, previous employment and reference checks.

3. Complete the Test of Adult Basic Education. The test will be waived for applicants with an associates degree or higher from an A.C.E. accredited college or university.
