View Full Version : Seriously you can't be Serious

Of course the below was an absurdly inaccurate posting, but working for a "tree city" is great, right?

Why would I give up anything, I'm one of the chosen, I'm a seasoned veteran with 2 years on the job, I have a new car, tons of court time, and still live at home. My bills are minimal, and I work a part time job when I'm not working for my good compensation package at work. My worries are minimal, I handle 3 calls a day, and get to complain about all the other officers on my shift. You should see my personal ride it rocks. My supervisor says it's best not to call unless I have a serious problem, so I don't worry about him too often, for the most part he's on my side. All I ask for is part of the weekend, so I can work with some of the more experienced officers who set a great example of how to do more with less. On a serious note, does anyone know of any good wi-fi locations for some free air moments on the chosen shift, it gets really boring out here sometimes. Until I earn my time, I'll just sit back and watch the moon cycle over the city, easily amused I am.

How else are you going to keep new young officers, throw them a rifle, new car and entertain their complaints that their FTOs are not up to par. Make it easy for them to stay and not venture off to a real department where they could top out in 5 to 7 years. Now that this contract looks like its going through it will take you young bucks ohh id say 15 years to vest and top out. When other agencies start hiring, people will go, oh yes people will go far away to other green pastures where theres no mind altering propaganda like "we care" or the "the grass is greener"...
Oh and Id just like to say to the admin, thanks for serving up our court OT to the city. since im sure none of you enjoyed that when you were sworn..
Time for another mass exodus

Serious is the time it is taking me to review all of new these posting. Myself included, we can't even decide which is the best topic to post under. I will personally try to focus on the proper headings because we wouldn't "the city" to get the impression that some of us are nitwits who cant even blog properly. How sad would that be? VERY SAD They might want to reduce our quota time even further. It's a just a joke, I never use my quota time, but if anyone want to buy some I'll trade it for a UHC specialist co-pay.

Ill give you my work out time so you can give it to Bev and get that 25 dollar check, which Im sure MM will make sure that gets taxed too.

Deal, but what about the spouse time, would that type of activity even be included. Maybe we could pool our minutes so we could get some fresh "out of the box" new benefits from MM, I'm going to have to get back with you tomorrow, this is one very tough decision.

10-29-2009, 04:53 PM
Why would you want to spend any time with your spouse?

11-02-2009, 05:43 PM
At our rate, might as well go work for Seminole........at least I'll get new equipment and vehicle every year...........

whats next our FOP will give up our health benefits ???? C'mon, arent we suppose to have a union ?? Isnt a Union suppose to be for the good of its members, where is the fight ?? how can WE just stand back and take it...... People OPEN YOUR EYES, the city can turd our 2.7million over night, but we (the entire city) cant get raises or anything........Our FOP people need to stand firm and FIGHT !!!!!!! I mean, really, there is NOTHING to lose.......

11-02-2009, 09:34 PM
"Our FOP people need to stand firm and FIGHT !!!!!!! "
What exactly does that mean?
I truly hope you come to the meeting tommorrow so you can get fully informed. Not only will you get exact information on what the proposal really is (and not rumors) but will also know what the true information on the economic, political and legal realities are along with the truth about the Impasse process. After that, I'd hope that when the proposal comes up to a vote, you can then make an educated decision of what is best for you, the lodge and your fellow members.
Hope to see you there!

11-04-2009, 12:55 AM
so in short your saying "just vote yes" and dont fight for what we deserve, you must be topped out and dont care about those with less time then you............... There is no real decision to make, WE GET NOTHING out of this contract so why would I vote yes to anything....................

JM topped out? your an idiot... Wait till they come back from the rah rah rah fight you call for with a big fat nothing... Now go in your 900 unit and handle a call

11-05-2009, 12:00 AM
So...Im an idiot now?
900 unit? Last time I checked Im driving a 2000 Ford Taurus.....which I dont mind....I feel its way more important for the road officers to have a better car than me!
Mr "Guest", I gotta ask, were you there last night?
Have you called me to voice your concerns? Instead of throwing nasty comments and negativity, give YOUR Labor Board your opinion.
If not, PLEASE call me so we can discuss....but for sakes....why do you gotta call me an idiot....jeeeeez
By the way......be safe!

11-05-2009, 12:10 AM
Thats not at all what I said
Never told anyone to vote yes, no or "Present"
Yes I am topped out but it took me a long time too.....I think 12-13 years to be exact.....not that it means much, Im just saying
I CARE more about every member of this lodge than you will know. I feel for everyone that might be impacted, from health care costs to freezes in salaries.
Keep in mind a topped out officer will not get a raise for 2 years. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!!!
The beauty of the American Democracy is this.....look at the information, analyze it and do what YOU feel is best for YOU and your fellow UNION members
Thats all....no more no less
Be Safe!

No silly that was a shot at the person who was ranking on you.. It just seems that junior people here dont really know what they have...re-read it, theres a question mark after that quote..

I am not a PPD officer but am a resident. Ill tell you where you are lacking, us citizens do not have any idea what you are going through. I hear about the contract struggles of all the other cities but never Plantation. I know you can't strike, but don't you have a "war fund" to make a public campaign?

I would glady pay an increase in my taxes to have qualified, HAPPY officers. A content officer who has his/her personal affairs taken care of is a more effective officer. Take my advise, the typical citizen does not go to commission meetings, HOA meetings, etc. so we are unaware of your struggle.

I have great respect for our police force. Give us residents more respect but educating us....you may be surprised at the results.

Thank you for your support! We would like to think that our citizens have our backs with support. It is difficult to deal with the city on contract issues given the current economic climate, which they use as an excuse every three years. Bottom line is they have the funds to support their police department, but they choose not to care. They buy empty parking lots for pet projects and expand on unused space for parks. We (police) are our own worse enemy as we bicker umong ourselves over issues created by the city council. Most citizens dont seem to care about their teachers and police. They make statements as to we make too much money and our benifits are too good. We know this can be a thankless job, but thats what we realize when we sign on. Again we wish we had the support from more good people as yourself.
Thanks

Earily Quiet

There is NO conspiracy here...

I hope no one is considering working that STUPID "dog and pony show" they call a holiday parade. Lets send a message to the mayor and have the residents of Plantation ask where all the police are at. I know that they will pull some units off of the road to work it. I know the money is good but I dont think that anyone is going hungry. We need to stand united on this issue. The fact of the matter is, is that very few are in favor of the proposed contract. So let MH and "tons of fun". work the detail.

11-09-2009, 05:29 PM
What purpose would that do?
Making our friends and allies/the residents mad at us for not protecting them that day?
They wouldnt know the difference if we werent their because someone from the PD will work it
Might as well work it and make some extra cash for the holidays

The OP had it right the first time. We are not there protecting any one, just getting into arguments and pissing off everyone who says "what do you mean I cant drive down that road I live here". The bottom line is that if $80 is gonna make that big of a difference in your families x-mas situation , then by all means work the detail. But lets face it ,there are other options: try to pick up just one more other detail, sell 4 hours of sick leave back or how about "JUST SUCK IT UP". The city can find some one else to PROTECT THE PUBLIC, AKA close down the streets. God knows they can find the money in one of their "SECRET FUNDS" that only the mayor knows about.

I was a yes vote but now I just cant come to agree with this contract. Oh so btw, Davie Fire rescuse and PD are going BSO!!!
we're surrounded, and I hope we go too...If this contract doesnt go through its bye bye to MM at city hall, she can find some other city to screw up!

People will work it, not for detail pay, when no one signs up they'll get nervous and offer OT. then you'll see the whores come out, just wait and see.

11-09-2009, 10:22 PM
Its always been OT pay....NOT detail pay

11-10-2009, 06:19 AM
Let them pull units off the road to work it to stand around a look pretty for the parade, then let a 41/21 go out and it come out officers were tied up

11-10-2009, 04:47 PM
Real mature......and you got into law enforcement why?

Let them pull units off the road to work it to stand around a look pretty for the parade, then let a 41/21 go out and it come out officers were tied up

Seems as though he is looking at it from a law enforcement standpoint, stating officers should be protecting the public over putting on a show for the city. So why did you get in law enforcement if its not preventing 41's ?

Tons of fun, what's up with that Tex! Speaking of the contract it's sounding more like a yes vote for me now, better that a couple of weeks ago.

there wont be a contract by Dec and the guys in the motor unit will be emancipated from the tyranny of the rotunda.
Now if we could just get Sgt Bling Bling yo yo yo to go as WELL!!!!
Please HH, let that example of a supervisor be who you do NOT promote in the future.

This city would never go to BSO and relinquish their hands in control over the safety and concern of it's residents

Who are you guys kidding? Not showing up to work the holiday parade? That would mean there would have to be some unity and we all know that unity does not exist here.

11-12-2009, 08:59 AM
C'mon we tried this before for the stupid Fart in the Park several years ago, but did it work...... NOPE !!!!!!!!!

yes, and please vote no so TRAFFIC can be freed.............

01-14-2010, 02:41 AM
If the no vote was to open up a traffic position then what a selffish union body we were. Hopefully some will accept that the 11.5's are not the answer either. I'm ready for the labor board's take on the new proposal. Still thankful to have a job, but come on guys, please unite. I wonder what the "twins" will do or say, they have been very quiet.

Seriously speaking, Is MM HOT or do I have vision issues?
