Confused?

Can someone please clear something up for me? If the PD is talking about laying off 8 officers why the hell are police applications still be accepted by the city?! I know the city says the applications are for an eligibility list but why are we even bothering taking ANY applications right now and making a so called eligibility list. If those guys get layed off they will be the first to come back.

I believe it's a federal law that you have to provide applications for people to fill out even if you're not hiring right then. Not sure how long they have to keep them or act on them, but under equal employment laws I'm pretty sure every place has to make applications available.

I see that they took down the posting for Police Officer on the job section of the city website.
