A Lee County Sheriff’s corporal has been fired after his porn-viewing activities at work slowed down agency computers.
Cpl. Scott Heimlich, who worked in corrections, was fired July 23.
According to the Internal Affairs report, Heimlich violated the agency’s policy on viewing pornographic material and conduct unbecoming of an officer.
A check of Heimlich’s computer found 857 pornographic images, 619 of those could be time-stamped to July 9. The other 238 pictures could not be time-stamped, but were similar to the others, having originated from the Web sites depicting “media amateurs gone wild” and “ice cream masturbation.”
Heimlich admitted he viewed the pictures while on duty, alone in his office.
“Hemlich stated it was stupid for him to do it, and it would not happen again,” Sgt. Michael Stanforth reported. “Heimlich also advised he had done it twice before about two months ago. Heimlich advised when he accessed the Web sites, no one else was in the office.”
He shared the office with a female colleague, but she was not aware of anything inappropriate.
