Fired LCSO's lieutenant to make final board appeal

Former Lee County Sheriff Lt. Lee Bushong will appear before the Civil Service Board on Tuesday.

The hearing will take place at 9 a.m. at the Old Court House on Monroe Street in Fort Myers.

Bushong was fired earlier this year for calling a co-worker names.

The hearing is the final of three that involve employees and former employees of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Former Special Operations Capt. Dominick Ferrante, who resigned in March amid Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott’s allegations of untruthfulness, had a civil service hearing Tuesday.

A second hearing, for Capt. Scott Ciresi, was held Wednesday.

Ciresi remains employed at the sheriff's office.

In his case, he is alleging he was demoted from major of Special Operations to captain of Echo district patrol — suffering a $21,000 pay cut — for no legitimate reason.

The sheriff has said it was part of the agency's reorganization.

Bushong, a former intelligence officer, was Ferrante's subordinate.

Ferrante, Ciresi and Bushong’s outcomes happened within weeks of each other, and just before the sheriff announced he was investigating his chief deputy, Charles Ferrante, for allegations of bullying and attempting to tamper with public records.

Charles Ferrante then retired.

If a board clears Bushong, he could potentially win his job back or at least make it easier to move forward in a law enforcement career elsewhere.

Sad to say but this will not happen, After yesterday, Mike Scott and Civil Service Board Proved that NO ONE will ever win a case,They can't even be heard, allowed to provide docs or witnesses..
It was very rare prior to Scott but now it's a diffident... And the double standard is that Scott won yesterday with NO Proof, No Doc's or Witnesses ; Because he didn't have to, He is the Sheriff !

This civil service bored is a joke. Just a way for the brass to claim they give everyone a fair shot. I'm glad these guys are presenting there case though.
