enough is enough with these blue and white cars, we can barely keep them running anymore with most at 100k plus miles. Is there anything in the works to get more new cars into this department!!

guess not

The New cars always come in july/august

Actually, the color is meaningless.

All the black and whites prior to 2006 were repainted to black and white.

There are actually alot of blue and white cars in the fleet that have under 50K. I can think of 5 off the top of my head, they were take home cars, adn some sro cars; and there are some black and whites with over 100K.

The car system is actually working out good. Everyone that does not have a take home, only shares with one person; there is no way you can complain about that.

not everyone can have a brand new car. Get over it. The way they do it is good and fair. There is no reason to put a new car into the fleet to be shared. There are some 06s and 07s in the fleet now and they will actually be more torn up and will have high mileage in no time. There is already an 06 in the pool with almost 60k. Giving the sgts a new car every 3 years and putting there car in the fleet is perfect. Your than getting a 3 year old car in the fleet with low miles and perfect condition.

fair? so whys there a certain female in patrol with an 08 take home car which she shares with no one and theres about 15 people in line before her for a take home that dont have one? And whys there a shiny new car in the bike unit; that should be in patrol?

Probably an oversight and her take home will be taken away when her position is filled.

The bike unit as well as winkler safe is funded from an outside source; special tax districts witin the city. The officers assigned to those units are required to have take home cars as per there contract/grant with their tax districts. The 08 in the bike unit was paid for by that tax district and cannot be removed. The same with winkler safe, hence why they have 3 new cars and one old one, the old one has to stay until it is replaced by the winkler safe neighborhood tax fund. It is the same why these officers have freedom to ignore calls and stay in their areas; if they are pulled form their areas and told to answer calls in the city, etc it can void the grants/agreements with the tax districts since they are the ones paying there salaries.

the shiny new car in the bike unit was purchased with a grant and from funds from the downtown redevelopment so it has to stay in the bike unit.

do you think we'll ever switch to a department wide take home policy right after FTO (or shortly thereafter)

Only if you are one of the few who doesnt go against the Admin---never disagree with them and tell them what a great job they are doing. Not only will you get a new car, but will get into a specialty and move right up the ranks.

Dont forget the special sale on Kool-Aid. Stock up now

Listen, all you rookies!! First of all stop your whining. Most of you have only been cops (and I use the word lightly) for about a year. So basically you do not know crap. A take home car should be the least of your worries. Guys before you went years without a take-home car. A take-home will not make you a better officer. DO YOUR TIME AND STOP WHINING. It does not have anything with kissing ass- just work, do what you are told. I can always tell the guys that were not military- because your type has problems taking orders.
You are the same guys who chase people and when you are asked what you have on them you cant give an answer. HINT- just because someone runs from you does not mean that they have commited a crime (may take you years to realize that). Then if you do catch them what have you got? Nothing. It just makes you look like an idiot and the rest of us sit back and laugh because you look like idiots.

As for some day, DeeZNuts is running for DUNBAR-PERSERVE next mayor! Be aware!!! My question for you 567: What is your argument here? Key-low-low and I are just dumbfounded by your posting. We think that your complaint is about officers not answering calls and the cars they're driving... We're lost here! Try regrouping your taughts and post something worth reading. By the way-my wifey, Key-low-low, says HI!
