So with the doing away with the evening shift, i wonder where and how certain people will be bidding?

We're not doing away with evening shift. From 1500 to 0130 hours, the streets go crazy -- and evening shift provides a critically needed overlap for this time-period.

I heard the same thing..they will be absorbed into days and nites so there will be plenty of coverage during the peak times

Hope the new car1 does away with eves. It's not needed as much as they are during the other shifts. I heard the reason they won't do it is becasue there are so many SGTs some of them will have no place to work. What would they do with all the Sgts.

IMO we already have way too many lieutenants, but if we do away with evening shift, then we'll also have way too many sergeants. So much for this years sergeants list!

IMO the new sheriff won't do anything for at least the first six months because he'll have to study the issue first.

we need eves like we need a hole in the head. No other agency I can think of that work 12 hr shifts has an eve squad. As far as all the sgts, good question. There are too many. I guess we can do what we use to do is have 2 per squad. But that used to be a sgt and a cpl. So I gues the senior sgt would be in charge

In my opinion, we should do away with evenings, and bring back a TAC/CSU squad to work evening hours. They could help patrol if its busy and do some proactive work when its not. They could also work CIB call outs while they are working - to give some relief to the CIB detectives on call.

You don't need to eliminate evenings to reduce CIB on-call. You can keep the district concept, BUT consolidate the on-call list between central and north CIB -- and leave everything else the same.

That's actually a good idea, if those evening shift patrol deputies are re-distributed onto either dayshift or nightshift. You WERE going to do that, right??? Ohhhhhh nooooooo you just want to take them (specifically, YOU) are redistribute them into SPECIALTY units, right? ;) Yeaa buddy, I got you all figured out. ;)
