This is a highly responsible position with the City of Miami Gardens that involves networking with the community and the protection of life and property. This is accomplished through patrol work, criminal investigation, community policing, code enforcement responsibilities and enforcement of the laws of the State of Florida and the Ordinances of the City of Miami Gardens. Assignments may typically involve routine motor patrol, bicycle or foot patrol, or criminal investigations. Officers receive assignments and instructions from police officers of a higher rank and perform work in accordance with Department policies and standard operating procedures. Participates in special programs and projects as assigned. Note: The duties of this position will include all of those duties set forth in the official job description.
Salary Hire-In Rates

Police Officer I: $46,002 - $66,808
Police Officer II: $49,682 - $72,152
Police Officer III: $53,657 - $77,924
Salary Hire-In rate will be determined based on years in Grade as an Officer and education attained. Actual offer will be determined by the City's Human Resources Department after a thorough review of an applicant's file.

This is a highly responsible position with the City of Miami Gardens Police Department that involves the supervision, training and scheduling of non-sworn Crime Scene Investigation personnel. The CSI Supervisor will oversee daily operations, assist administrative, purchasing and budgeting functions and perform service calls for the City of Miami Gardens Crime Scene Investigations Unit. The CSI Supervisor supervises staff, delegates assignments, implements field staff work schedules, assists in recruitment/testing/hiring activities, evaluates employees and oversees and provides forensic training to Officers and staff. The incumbent is also responsible for documenting crime scenes with photographs, video recordings, diagrams and reports. $ 53,006 - $66,257 D.O.Q.

This is a non-sworn, non-exempt, full-time position under general supervision of the Support Services Division. The purpose of the position is to provide support for all areas of the police department. This position is responsible for the labeling, storage, and transportation of all evidence to the crime lab and the maintenance and storage of all department equipment. Performs related work as directed.
An employee in this classification will participate and coordinate activities within the Property Unit. This position is not of a routine, clerical or ministerial nature and requires the exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent will assign, review, and participate in the work of employees responsible for performing a variety of technical duties related to the receipt, storage, protection, delivery, release and disposition of property and evidence; to ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and to perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. $ 37,793 - $47,241 D.O.Q.

This multi-faceted position provides support for all areas of the police department. The incumbent is responsible for detecting, collecting, preserving, and transporting evidence from crime scenes. Primarily responsible for processing crime scenes that are investigated by the Miami Gardens Police Department. This position involves a large amount of public contact which requires good communication skills. $ 43,269 - $54,087 D.O.Q.

Lateral Police Officer Program:

Police officer applicants are eligible for the lateral police officer program if they are currently employed as a full-time certified peace officer with a public law enforcement agency. Lateral police officers with at least three (3) years experience are exempt from the college hour requirement if their police officer experience is immediately preceding the submission of their application.
A lateral police officer is eligible for a starting salary based on their whole years of police officer experience. Service time, for determining the starting salary, can include multiple agencies if breaks in service are less than thirty (30) days.
Police officers who are TCLEOSE certified with at least 12 months of patrol experience are eligible for an abbreviated training program. This consists of 9 weeks of updates on policies and procedures and field training based on performance.
Police officers, who are not TCLEOSE certified at the time of hire, may attend a full academy to obtain the TCLEOSE certification. This will be based on the number of lateral officers hired. A lateral's only training class may be offered if enough lateral officers are hired at one time. The lateral's only class will be 4 weeks of law updates, 9 weeks of policies and procedures, and field training based on performance.
TCLEOSE certification for out of state officers is not required prior to hire
