Former PBC Sheriff's Office mechanic pleads guilty in catalytic converter thefts

A former Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office mechanic pleaded guilty to grand theft Wednesday for removing and selling 37 catalytic converters from agency vehicles.

Elias Noa, 46, from west of West Palm Beach, has worked at the Sheriff's Office since 2006 and was arrested Aug. 12, charged with grand theft and four counts of dealing in stolen property. The stolen property charges were dropped, prosecutors said, mainly because it was Noa's first offense.

He was sentenced to 18 months of probation, 40 hours of community service and must pay $2,280 restitution to the Sheriff's Office. Noa resigned from the Sheriff's Office Sept. 18, said his lawyer, Valerie Masters. If he successfully completes his sentence, he won't have a criminal record.

Why was this not reported in the Palm Beach Post? like all of the articles that was done afew months back of the corrections deputies..who unlike this civilian admit to guilt and took the plea..My gut feeling telling me they are standing strong and proud and will not take no pleas...Court will be starting up soon...stay toned but will have to get that from the "other" papers.
