The following site (http://www.DeltonaInfo.org) has a lot of comments about the Deltona Police Department vs. VCSO issue. They seem to go both ways, but lots of good info. See below.

Let them have it. Who cares?

I agree completely. The only people that care are politicians. VCSO will not lose any deputies if Deltona takes it over. Let Deltona have it.

Great one more agency for Central to have to worry about with their entirly different set of rules regulations policies and procedures on how they want it done. And if they try to get their own dispatch that would be even more annoying, bc they'd be calling evey five min to have us bolo or assist with something causing even more jurisdiction pow wows. Atleast right now everyone is a deputy. When shit hits the fans the D2 D6 and D4 Sgts come together and get it done. What about 41 zone. Is he then going to be the only D4 deputy if DLT gets their PD? That just can't be safe...

You make some valid points. But it would work out. It is like being on LE 2 when there is Bolo's from the whole west side of the county, Lake Helen, Deland, etc to worry about.

And the officer safety issue is one that should be addressed for the Pierson/21 zone deputy. Radio's do not work up there....and they are by themselves.

It is true the politicians are about the only ones who really care. But all of the city of deltona employees seem to love working for the city. And didn't they get raises??

It might be better than working in Deltona for the county.

There is the city of pierson deputy also (zone 14). He gets to back up 21 zone anytime needed. Same with 64 zone. Should there be more yes, but it works for now. As for the radios every agency reading on LE2 is plain horrible ESPECIALLY DLPD. and the lonely Lake Helen ofc goes days at a time with out ever keying up..

Good post. The only thing is that the Pierson deputy can only help out the 21 guy during the 12 hours he is working.

And that is not completely true about Lake Helen. For some reason they feel the need to get on the radio and let us know they are doing 10-10. Why? I don't know.

HAha my bad - if that counts as a radio transmission then we can't forget copy log on and 10-7

When citizens start to feel the manpower cuts the city has started with VCSO, many of them will wish they had voted their own PD in. For what VCSO pays their deputies, I bet plenty of them will go over to a PD. I think a PD would be a little more fair to people, a little less hassle on the employees.

It is obvious you have no idea what you are talking about the cuts were due to budgets they would have cut positions PD or not.

There is this new thing called punctuation. You ought to try it....it's a gas.
