It seems the Seminoles are useing you guys to do thier dirty work. Isnt it a conflict of interest to throw the mobile home park management out? You are supposed to be there to protect the citizens but instead you are forceing them out. Who can they call? I understand that the reservation is soverein land but the Seminoles seem to be going just a bit too far. Are you guys police officers or the private security of the Seminoles?

The previous management company violated the lease agreement they held with the Tribe.
For instance:
Hollywood Estates was supposed to be a 55+ community, the management company failed to comply with that stipulation and young adults began moving.
The community was not being up kept
Background checks were not being conducted on the residents resulting in convicted felons moving in, search warrants being served on drug houses.
The tribe took back there land we merely stood by to ensure the safety of lif and property for the residents, the tribe, and the old managment company

I didnt know that they were in violation of the lease. The Sun Sentinel and Herald make it out like the Seminoles used the police dept. to force them out against their will. I am glad it did not come to this but what would of happened if the old management company refused to leave, would you have arrested them? It just seems this whole ordeal is a civil matter and should not be handled by the police. There was something in the paper today that said the Seminoles acted improperly and the ousting of the management company was in some type of violation. The Dept of Interior was the ones who said that. I know the Seminoles are not bound by any other agency except the DOI. It will be interesting to see what happens with all of this.

The fact of the matter is the tribe had every right to evict the management company. They violated the terms of their contract. The police stood by to maintain the peace just as any other agency would do. The tribe and the police acted legally and responsibly. Hollywood Estates became a drug and crime haven due to the shortcomings of the management company. The people who were lawfully living in Hollywood Estates did not deserve the mistreatment they received from the management company. Don't come on here and blame the tribe and the police department for the management company's complete disregard for the rules and obligations set forth in the contract.

A whole squad of officers just doesnt show up and say they have to leave. The reason has to be presented to the judge and he decides, then issues an eviction order then it is carried out by BSO civil deputies, its a whole process. The Seminoles wanted the management company out and used a show of force by the PD to get them to leave. The question was never answered if the management company refused to leave would the Seminole PD have arrested them? And for what charge? It seems a little unfair to me that the Seminoles can circumvent any existing laws and procedures and just do as they please.

The management company was notified of their violations and told if they did not rectify the situation they would have to leave. That was done weeks before they were told to leave. They never made any attempt to right their wrongs. The Seminole PD was not there as a show of force or to physically remove anyone, but to protect the tribe's assets(office, clubhouse, property). If they would've stayed they wouldn't have been arrested. They would've finished up their workday and gone home. They had the option to leave then or to finish their workday, and they chose to leave then. At no time was anyone "forced" to do anything. The Seminoles have a team of lawyers that are paid very well to use the law to their advantage. That doesn't mean they circumvent the law, violate the law or act outside the scope of the law. They simply act as every other corporation in the United States does.
