Posted on Sat, Jul. 26, 2008
The Miami-Dade state attorney's office has charged Coral Gables City Manager David Brown with one count of violating state laws in connection with suspect receipts for his consumption of meals and alcoholic beverages paid for by taxpayers going back to 2006.
Brown is scheduled to go court at 8 a.m. Wednesday at which time prosecutors say they expect Brown to admit his guilt.
Because the charge is noncriminal, the city manager will likely walk away from the episode having to pay about $2,600, which includes a $500 fine and the prosecution's legal expenses, according to the Coral Gables Gazette.
