OCALA – Four men broke into an Ocala jewelry store early Monday and then led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in a Summerfield parking lot.

OCALA POLICE DEPARTMENT This image from a video camera in a law enforcement vehicle shows two men running from a car following a high-speed chase Monday morning.Authorities found Frank Lee Robins, 28, James Oscar McCray Jr., 24, and Alexander Bradley Grant, 20, near the Goodwill donation trailer into which their getaway car crashed, according to the Ocala Police Department.

Later, a fourth suspect, Steven Thomas Dawson, 24, was arrested in a Wal-Mart parking lot across South U.S. 441.

The pursuit began shortly after 3:51 a.m., when Ocala police received an alarm call from Silver City, 3205 E. Silver Springs Blvd. When officers arrived, they saw four men wearing black hoodies and carrying duffel bags as they left the store. The men got into a Honda Accord.

The Accord sped away and officers gave chase. They went back through the city and turned south on U.S. 441. During the chase, Ocala police spokeswoman Sgt. Angy Scroble said, speeds reached upwards of 120 mph.

The Accord went into Sumter and then into Lake county in The Villages area. Then the car made a U-turn and traveled back into Marion County on U.S. 441.

The Accord turned across the median into the parking lot of an Office Depot plaza at 17950 S. U.S. 441. The vehicle turned right and drove directly into the back of the Goodwill trailer.

All four men got out of the car and ran away.

Ocala police Sgt. Corey Taylor caught Robins immediately, according to a Police Department news release. McCray was bitten and taken down by a Marion County Sheriff’s Office police dog.

Grant, the driver of the car, was found behind the plaza, near the Spruce Creek South subdivision.

All four men were charged with commercial burglary, grand theft, criminal mischief and resisting without violence, according to the news release. Grant was also charged with felony fleeing and eluding.

Robins told police that he and McCray are cousins. Robins reportedly has an outstanding warrant from Miami-Dade County on a charge of sexual battery.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jenifer Fisher said Lake and Sumter sheriff’s offices, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Lady Lake Police Department also assisted in the pursuit.
