View Full Version : Deltona PD to replace VCSO

07-08-2008, 07:37 PM
The City of Deltona, led by their 29 year old mayor, is hell bent on replacing the contract services provided by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. Instead, the mayor and his 4 hand-picked commission members have said that they would not listen to the overwhelming public angst toward spending more money that the city does not have..they're moving forward anyway.

In case you missed the very heated discussion in the city commissions chambers, where it was standing room only... you can see video highlights of the action at

Sheriff Ben Johnson reacts to the slanted consultant report.

Captain John Bonnevier points out the "factual inaccuracies" contained in the report.

Mayor Dennis Mulder explains why he doesn't care what the public has had to say on this issue. He purports that he "has no agenda" with this issue but "I've promised" to do this. He would not say to whom he owes his allegiance, since the standing-room only crowd was in favor of keeping the sheriff's office.

I hope Deltona does get their own PD. Who cares? All the suck ***es that hang out with Ben makes me sick. They are only doing it to make him like them by showing him their support. We will not lose any deputies if Deltona takes over. That was already stated by the county manager. If we have no fear of losing deputies, than what do we care if Deltona has their own PD or not. I say, let them have it.

Let the PD come...It may make things better. Just imagine - a PD might pay more and require less. Seems like a no brainer.

H*ll yeah. The way things are with VCSO, a PD run by someone else would be great for the employees.
