Yes or No? Does a Union really help SLEO?

all they do is take what little money we make. and most of the reps are conneted to the agency, reserve, or retired and will listen to management before the officers that they are hired to help. all a big scam

If everyone got involved the Union would help. It takes the actions of all.

What is the percentage of LEO's in the PBA from FWC? What was the percentage of LEO's that were in IUPA? Not sure I remember hearing numbers or percentages only that they needed more officers. Just curious, anyone know?

Yes, most are connected to our agency in one way or another. They do spend money to buy breakfast and lunches sometimes..probably dues money.
I do know one who says what is on his mind and rubs the FWC supers the wrong way. He is a PBA rep and a former GFC officer himself.
Don't ever forget how PBA dropped our pay raise fight in the Legislature the year IUPA got the contract. They left us holding...IUPA is a joke too!
Hire your own legal team if you need to fight for your job. If you cant afford to do that, then a PBA attorney would be worth your dues money...maybe. Its a peace of mind I reckon.

Dropped PBA like a bad habit. I like to see that 15 extra dollars in my pocket

One thing you have to understand that these union attorneys DO NOT work exclusively for the union. The PBA is a client of a particular law firm and the attorneys DO NOT concentrate solely on representing you. They represent hundreds of other clients in the private arena on issues completely unrelated to law enforcement.

The main thing to remember is Unions don't really work well in Florida.

PBA's record from the late 1980's to 1999; 2 steps, a few across the boards and THEY claim the 8% in 2000. LOSS OF THE STEP PAY PLAN!!! ONE FHP ONLY raise, ***NOT attributed to PBA***

IUPA-FL's record from 2000 to 2006; THEY claim the 8% in 2000, a few across the boards. FAILURE TO ACT on loss of the step pay plan!!! ONE FHP ONLY raise, *** NOT attributed to IUPA*** More legal action in 6 years than the PBA had in the previous 27 years.

PBA's record from 2006 to 2008; 3% across the board, ONE time lump sum of $1000. Supported Legislation for FHP ONLY raise. FHP ONLY 5% raise (supported by PBA).

hey has anyone heard anything out of the PBA? not that it would matter but i really am just curiouse. how about it mr president, you work for us(fwc) i am missing ya

06-29-2008, 02:39 AM
He** no! PBA is worthless. Management wanted them in because they knew they were and are wortheless and do nothings! At least w/ IUPA FWC knew what was going on and who the reps were. Who is the PBA FWC rep anyway?? Anyone know, because we sure haven't heard a thing. Schedules are still a charlie foxtrot.

Then again, maybe that is the overall plan between management and PBA. Lets do nothing! status quo.
