More like I think he knows what usually happens to administrators employed by a governmental agency when they have employee's who have garnered as much attention as his have over the last few weeks. They are let go or asked to resign in order to appease the masses. It does'nt matter if their employee's were right and justified in their actions. Perception is everything in this screwed up digital age. People are to lazy to research a matter for themselves and make their own decisions. They empower the media to lead them and inform them into believing whatever it is that the media wants them to think is appropriate. Sure Charlette's gone but the public is going to want more than a worker bee's head on the plate if the suit goes class action which is the media story of late. The public will demand an administrators head as well. The question is who's.

You are so right, especially the part about the people are lazy and wanting to be lead. Where is the petition, I want to sign it. I no longer want to be lead by the PBA.

What a JOKE! Mr. Parrish is only around to give tours or set up his next paid speaking gig! The last time Mr. Parrish was at the Jail talking to the "JAIL GUARDS" he still thought 64 was the number of inmates in the pod. Hello 96!!! and no escorts in the halls?

I guess the days of "Power Rangers" and "Green Team" to welcome new arrivals to booking or 6 Charlie are over  !! Give me a break!

Sgts and Cpls in the jail have been covering for bad use of force for years! The staff and command have known for years that this is a common practice. The Jail and Road do what needs to be done to get the job done :D I will always give my best to every inmate that comes into the jail. If inmates are not following a direct order this may cause a use of force that my not be pretty 8) It really is that simple. The cameras in the halls and pods and 6 charlie are there for Mr. Parrish to make an example out of you!!! Don't forget that!

Must we forget that Mr. Docobo hates us! I guess Mr. Crumpler is not in I.A. to F@1k us anymore but they have found a new Arse Kisser to Screw us and do what ever Mr. Docobo and Mr. Parrish see fit.

Did anyone ever think that the reason Parrish and Lucas are making the rounds at the jail(working a deputy position) is so they will be able to testify in upcoming court proceedings as to what we really do? It is because that have no clue!
Can anyone tell me why Lucas is even still here? Shouldn't he be on leave also?

03-02-2008, 03:50 AM
Mr. Parrish and Mr. Docobo will use the cameras in the jail to fry every one of us!

If you guys think that the Chief and the Sheriff like to talk about Jail Guards on channel 8,10,13,CNN,FOX so on you must be crazy

Look ... we are second class employees! They do not even consider us DEPUTIES  I know you don't like that, but it will be very clear when most of booking and lock down start going to PRISON!!!!If you think the Chief or the Sheriff will ever "take one" For a Jail Guard you are really living in dream land.

Don't you remember when in-service told us you better yell PLUMBER if you have to shoot a dirtbag to defend yourself or family on the street?

I'm just saying be real! Mr. Gee Mr. Docobo and Mr. Parrish are not your friend! They will send one of the "Jail Guards" down the river in a heartbeat. " I have felt the love from these great leaders in the past. I know and we all know that Road Guards have a get out of jail free card. The Sheriff has many bones that have been covered up in the past from Road Guards making bone head moves that would send most people to prison.

The way it works is that most F@#k up and then get a Life Saving award or get promoted 6 months after getting out of I.A. smelling like a rose. :D

Hey if you have a uncle, brother or father on the road good luck! You will get picked one day! If not got to TPD,TTPD,PINELLAS or even SEMINOLE! They all pay really well!!! I think they even cover for you when you step on your PEE PEE  It's a Road Guard thing you wouldn't understand!

The bottom line is start cutting the checks :D The doggs will go away and the rest of us will go back to business as usual. Mr. Cohen got what 4-5-6 million$$$$ from a Road Guard making a bone head mistake. I guess Mr.Docobo,Mr. Parrish, and Mr. Gee will have to pay up for a Jail Guard this time. 8)

They're working the deputy position probably because Gee is making them. Funny thing though. When Parrish met with some deputies this week he was totally surprised in how hard it is to work booking.

He should of known this years ago. Another thing he said, in reference to a prisoner coming in. He described the inmate as a (and I quote) "A big fat slob, who was high on xanaz and vicodin"

Now this is the Colonel talking. Before he described this inmate, he talked about how Sheriff Heinrich use to tell him that he wanted inmates to be treated as if they were a brother, or a sister, or a mother or father.

Seems Parrish forgot what Sheriff Heinrich wanted as he described the inmate in booking as a "Big Fat Slob".

This is the Colonel? Know wonder why we have the problems we do. He needs to retire now.

The only thing he ever expected out the Jail Deputies was to clean a pod.

I don't recall any training in how to handle disabled inmates. Common sense would tell you not to dump one out of a wheel chair. But, if we had training in this area, maybe the deputy in booking would of been thinking more........

I am not sure Mr. Lucas likes us either. He called me up as a "personal" call and asked if I will stand out side of one of the roll calls and try to get signatures for a decertification. He said it would be appreciated by the Sheriff. To show support for him.

I think that is classified as unfair labor practices. Using you position to intimidate?

While I don't belive this is a conspiracy or corruption, I do belive this happens. Border line cases of uses of force. It's easier, I believe for them to side with the Deputy.

"Properly trained and qualified staff are critical to the effective operation of a direct supervision facility. Officers must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills because so much is expected of them. They must function as supervisors, not custodians. …In the words of Austin McCormick, 'If only I had the right staff, I could run a good prison in an old red barn.'

"Jail operations have a history of being "off limits" to outsiders. Such is not the case with accredited facilities. …The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office encourages jail tours and is open to the media and the public for a firsthand examination. WITNESS

Donald Cabana served for five years as Warden of the maximum security, death row prison in Parchman, Mississippi, in the 1980s, until his distress at having to carry out executions overwhelmed him. He detailed his experiences in a 1996 memoir, Death at Midnight: The Confession of an Executioner. In 2004, he resumed control of Parchman after spending time as an anti-death penalty speaker. Mr. Cabana has a long history in corrections, beginning as a guard at Parchman in 1972. He was also a warden in other facilities in Mississippi, as well as in Missouri and Florida, and was Acting Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections from 1986 to 1987. Donald Cabana is currently Chair of the Criminal Justice Department at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

"I think the single most important issue in addressing these concerns is administrative accountability. There simply must be an effective way to hold prison officials accountable for the actions of staff.

"I don't know if a 'report card' is an effective approach. But I do believe that we can improve significantly in reducing staff on inmate and inmate on inmate violence. Better pay, better training and better educated staff are a good beginning. In the final analysis, however, without strong leadership at the top, without a demand for professional excellence, the levels of violence in America's prisons will continue to be a significant problem."

Commission on Safety and Abuse in America's Prisons

http://www.prisoncommission.org/mission.asp

For roughly a year, beginning in March 2005, the Commission on Safety and Abuse in America's Prisons explored violence and abuse in America's prisons and jails and how to make correctional facilities safer for prisoners and staff and more effective in promoting public safety and public health.

If you take some time and click on all the links and read this you will find it fascinating.

Assuming that he wrote it, it indicates he has great confidence in the skill, dedication and integrity of the detention deputies.

Is his confidence misplaced?

No, booking is filmed 24/7. If you recorded every street arrest and pulled out all the ones who had to be taken to the ground or required force, then showed them every other days on the news it would look bad, any if they were all justfied. In the last two years over 100,000 people were booked into Orient. 6 people recently complained, some of the complaints happended almost 2 years ago. 4 of them never filed a complaint until they saw dollar signs on the news. That is pretty damn good in my opinion! I think the jail deputies stay pretty professional considering the constant enviroment they are in.
