Retired Deputy needs advice!

Iam a retired Deputy Sheriff from Broward County ,Florida.Iam relocating to New Mexico.Iam thinking of buying a house in Truth or Consequences or Elephant Butte.Can anyone give me a heads up on these towns.Thanks and stay safe.
