Charlie put his budget propsal out for 2008 and 2009. If I am reading this right no raises for us! I know the new Col is trying to do his best at keeping moral up in these dismal times. Heck there is even talk of doing away with FHP all together. Anyone considering a career here may really seriously consider something else!

We should all not be so naive. You can work here another 20 years and I can almost PROMISE you will never see things get better. Hurry up and get your applications ready unless you like working 25 hours of 208 a week just to make the same amount of money you would be making at another agency.

Here it is in black and white.

The budget calls for a reduction of over five million dollars from the Highway Patrol and they have actually cut two positions. You didn’t really believe that this was the year did you?

I can honestly say I will have no regrets when I see the "Welcome To Florida" sign in my rearview mirror. What a shameful, embarrassing state Florida is. I should have paid attention to the warning signs in the academy and bailed then. At least I didnt piss away 10+ years here like some poor (no pun intented) troopers have.

Good luck all in your future endeavors and may it not include FHP, better known as False Hopes and Promises.

Time to start looking! What a shame..

Well, I e-mailed my reps, held on to hope (five yrs), thought "possibly the year" and now I see the cold truth!

I love this job but time to let it go. Hey if the Governor won't back us it'll be another 4 yrs or 8 yrs of shame. I really think they'll just convert FHP to CSA positions.

2% raise! What a joke! Signal 14, it only comes out to approx. $600 more a year! Gee Thanks a .30 cent raise! Kinda like the BS bonus we got in 07. I know a buddy who got a dollar raise working at MC Donalds this year! What a shame, this state has reduced FHP to crap! How did it go from one of the most elite in the nation to CRAP!?!?!?

Just like at the end of the night in a party they put the slow music on so people could leave, I really think that is what the State is doing to us. Play that slow music that way they will leave.

Thanks PBA but until you can do what the PBA does for other Dept.'s you will never see my money again.

Well it's been good, but I have to support a family, good bye!

That is 2% for rewarding top performers.... There is no guarantee we will all get it. Everyone remember when we did performance-based bonuses and your squad and supervisors voted on who got them. Supervisors were told only x number of people could get it. We all knew how fair that was! One whole squad conspired to vote each other a "10" while other squads gave an honest assessments of their peers. The cheaters got the bonus. :x

Just like some troopers, I was going to wait one more year. After the preliminary budget, it is time to leave. I really did enjoy my job as a trooper. The talk of working just interstates or even abolishing FHP all together has me starting to look for another agency right now. It is sad what they have done to the agency. So many suggestions have been made of ways to raise money and they just do not care. :(

I have tests upcoming in a few months with two other agencies and Im very excited. It is an awesome feeling to see the light.

:D 2% raise. I wouldnt even count on that. Charlie had us pegged for a 5% raise last year and look what happened. The legislature is already talking about a bonus again only of just 500.00 this time and some have mentioned the fed tax rebate checks as a reason we can get by without a raise again.
