K9 case law question

hello,

i am a handler in polk county. our sao gave us a legal advisor that gave us some heartache and i am researching it.

i recently had a motion to supress and won my case based on a DCA ruling from a FHP case. the case centered around a FHP K9 handler that conducted his own traffic stop,then his own sniff of the vehicle resulting in the arrest of the driver. the key point being that the trooper used his time to run the dog around the car instead of writing a ticket.

i didn't think to copy the case down because it seemed so common sense but now i need to know the DCA cite or something so i can look it up. i think the case was 2nd DCA but i'm not sure.

i tried calling a K9 sgt but i got the runaround a bit becuase the promotion were just announced up here.

i would appreciate any help you guys could offer.

Forgot to mention: I did not see any case from the 2nd DCA or where FHP has a similar fact pattern. Not to say it is not there, just I did not see it. Good luck on your search.

It must have come from up top because those cases are not something the average trooper can get....Hmmmm GHQ is watching.

This is so funny...as if the head of FHP K9 is going to know the answer to a difficult question. I can not even get them to accurately account for the drugs that they carry in their patrol vehicles.

These case laws are not coming from troopers working the road . These cases are coming from someone with access to case law or are attorneys. Hmmm...I think Electra has a law degree.
