I heard ya'll are using Taurus'? Anyone have Crown Vics? I see a lot of you down here working, and you're always in plain clothes. Is that a perk of the gig? Are you given body armor, etc?

We get body armor, take homes, and we get to campaign for public office on duty! Incredible percs! We also get to come in at the rank of LT or highter and it's just a hop skip and jump and we are captains! This is so much better than Jefferson County SO!

Now that would be nice. I walk by three or four each night as I go in the employee door at HD. The night shift manager lets me take his down to the car wash and gas station on Saturdays, but to answer your question -
We don't have any Crown Vics. There may be a few Taurus vehicles left, but we haven't bought any new ones in almost ten years. Most all new vehicles since 2004 have been police package Impalas.
We also have:
F 150, Monte Carlo, Jeep Cherokee, Blazer, Intrepid..there may be others, but that is all I see in my area.

Take homes are great. When do we get our new Hummers. Heard only 8 vehicle ordered for this year. Guess we'll be walking soon

You might want to take some more pride in your assigned vehicle. They would last a lot longer and break down a lot less if you would take the time to get your maintenance done on schedule. Remember Fram-"pay me now or pay me later". In my agency, we would recieve discipline if we do not properly maintain our vehicles.

You are applying for a job and all you are worrying about is what car they give you........you'll fit right in with the idiots running this place.........WOW

you guys allowed to use your cars off duty? what type of schedule does the average agent keep? I heard every other Saturday night is mandated....thanks

There is no real off duty use of the state car. Like everything else in ABT, there are certain exceptions -
Off duty use , with prior approval, on a second job. You pay for miles and insurance.
Incidential off duty use - stopping by the store on your way home, gym, etc. The imprtant fact is, the personal use has to be "incidental" if that makes any sense. To give a better example - you are screwed if you get in a wreck in the state car, on Saturday morning with a load a lumber hanging out the trunk. You would be OK to stop by the store and pick up a gallon of milk on your way home, however.
As a general rule, you work when needed. You have 28 days to get 160 hours, and the schedules are flexible in most every office.

That lumber remark is the best! I remember years ago I saw a Palm Beach County green and white with about 8 2x4's hanging out the back passenger windows! I guess their take home policy is "lenient" compared to "incidental"

I see on Peoples First that they are advertising for agent jobs. Are they planning on hiring anytime soon?

Thanks!
