you all really are pathetic. i hope that someday everything youve worked hard for gets taken away at a moments notice over something so stupid.

12-31-2007, 03:13 AM
Something so stupid? How stupid can 1 person be to do something like he did after all the others that have gone down for the same type thing. He deserved what happened and he was certainly not needed if he was that dumb. Hopefully we have no more idiots like this one.

12-31-2007, 06:33 AM
same type thing? you obviously are, not surprisingly, basing your opinions on rumors that you've heard...nice one. i guess, as according to you, city issued computers and personal cell phones are the same thing.

???

12-31-2007, 02:39 PM
No, city issued computers are not the same. Thats why I phrased it the way I did. Lets go over some of the facts.

1) Was he off duty? Yes (possibly)
2) Did he send a nude photo of himself to another member of the department? Yes. (Consitutes sexual harrasment in the work place)
3) Did she want to se the picture? Maybe
4) Was it his personal cell phone? Yes
5) Was it his own clothing? No. What do our orders state about the wearing of our uniform off duty?
6) Have others just resigned/fired for things you could say have the same type of content? Yes.
7) Would anybody in their right mind do something so stupid when the fire has not even cooled down about the other moronic things people did. In order to be a police officer, you have to be able to think on your own and make decisions that best effect the ones around you. He made a very poor decision, pulled out his little one, took a picure of it and sent it to another BPD employee. This was done all on his own with no one coercing him into it. Pay the piper now.
As I said earlier, we (you should be happy to be included if you are in fact a BPD employee) do not need people like him that give a bad name to us as a whole. It takes a long time to recover from these incidents. Good job to the admin for continuing to clean house. Maybe one day we can hold our heads up high again after getting rid of the trash. Right Toke?

As a Florida LEO there is a Moral Character clause besides conduct unbecoming an Officer on or off duty. No professional police officer does this and it must not be much of a rumor if he quit.

12-31-2007, 05:41 PM
i do see your point and appreciate you being civil about the issue, unlike the guest who feels it necessary to act like a 2 year old and call people "morons"..nice.. im just saying the whole thing was taken WAY out of hand. write up, suspension and the like seemed more appropriate than the promise of firing and destroying the rest of his career over something that was really nothing.

12-31-2007, 07:37 PM
If you think it was nothing you better look at and start living by the Moral Character clause in your Florida State Certified position.

01-01-2008, 02:08 AM
Florida State Statues section 943.13(7) states the requirement for good moral character that all LEO's must maintain.

I always knew if I posted enough information on here somebody from admin would get on here as a "guest". I'll meet you inside the forums now.

01-27-2008, 03:56 PM

Bradenton city police officer loses job for sending naked pictures

STAFF REPORT

BRADENTON – A city police officer has resigned and could lose his law enforcement certification after he sent naked pictures of himself to female colleagues, according to internal affairs reports.

Bradenton Police Department officer Alex Arana, an officer since April 2004, left the department on Dec. 26, before the internal investigation was finished.

The report was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which could yank Arana’s police certification over the images.

Officials received an anonymous complaint about the photos in December. They later found that Arana sent a video clip and a photo to the cellular phones of three women: an intern, a dispatcher and a crime scene investigator.

Police say that Arana videotaped himself with his genitals exposed while he wore a SWAT jumpsuit.

But Arana says that the images were meant as a joke, they were not taken while he was on duty and were shared only with his friends.

“It was nothing but a joke,” he said Wednesday. “What I don’t understand is how something that happened off-duty, between friends, became such a big deal.”
