Have you ever stopped to wonder
What it’s really all about
I doubt if you have or ever will
And that’s why you won’t find out

So if I take the time to tell you
And you’re able to understand
Then maybe there’s hope
Be if ever so small
I’m doing the best I can

You know their names and faces
They’re the ones with all the power
They rule your daily lives
Right down to the ½ hour

They talk of productivity
But the instructions are very clear
Don’t step on any important toes
Or you won’t be around next year

Get in your state assigned vehicle
Filled with self service gas
Drive to the nearest licensed premises
intending to give a pass

Enter in a professional manner
With pen and inspection pad
And hope that within the next ½ hour
You don’t find anything bad

If by chance you find a violation
During your inspection’s course
Tell the licensee not to worry
You’re only beating a dead horse

You can do this every day
And never make a case
And only those at the bottom
Will ever get in your face

Those at the top will love you
And invite you to the hill
They’ll see you as management material
And clone you to their will

Your peers will look with envy
As you come back a manager stud
But in truth they’ll whisper behind you
“there goes Elmer Fudd.”

"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more
useful than a life spent doing nothing."

~George Bernard Shaw

I'm witholding comment on the subject matter, but I have to say the poet has talent. I'm impressed with the prose - it is almost genius. Well Done.
