FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A Broward Sheriff's Office sergeant who said she was stabbed in the stomach by an attacker, actually stabbed herself.
Authorities say Sergeant Lisa Disavino initially claimed a "suspicious" person stabbed her at a bus stop Sunday and then ran away. She was taken to the hospital and released hours later.
But a sheriff's office spokesman says the wounds were self-inflicted. The spokesman says Disavino was going through some personal problems and the agency would help her deal with them.
Disavino, a seven-year veteran of the force, will not be criminally charged.
