Imagine, another female messing up!!
Allegation against corrections deputy sustained
Patricia Thomas reprimanded for bringing gun into intake area
A corrections deputy working at the Charlotte County Jail received a letter of reprimand and a job transfer after she was found to have violated CCSO policy and taken a gun into an inmate intake area.
Patricia Thomas, who has worked for the CCSO for four years, went into the intake area with a gun on her hip on Sept. 10 while she was preparing inmates for transport to court, an internal investigation report said. Corrections deputies are required to secure their guns outside of the intake area, and may only take Tasers and pepper spray inside. Thomas realized after a few seconds that she had forgotten to take off her gun, the report said; as soon as she noticed she still had it in its holster, she left the intake area.
Thomas was issued a letter of reprimand and transferred from her job as a transportation and medical officer to one as a correction housing officer. That change is effective Dec. 3.
This is Thomas' second reprimand. On Jan. 10, an internal investigation found that she failed to follow procedure after hitting a construction divider while transporting an inmate from Collier County in a CCSO van.
