And only believe half of the BS on this board, The Tribe is not half that bad to work for, There are a lot worse depts. out there, The environment is layed back and low stress, for the most part. The guys on here that complain should go to a dept and hump calls for 12 hours, and they might just might appreciate SPD.

It is not true, if your a Seminole Police Officer you could still play at the
Seminole Casinos. Of course the only thing that is said about playing at there casion is that you can not play while on duty "of course"!

Many jobs out there pay half what Seminole does (not referring to leo), and also offer no retirement so they wind up working at Publix at 65 yoa. Invest on your own if they dont have anything right now. There are agencies out there with some very nice pension packages and we would love to have one BUT, the quality of life is also important so if I have to spend my 1st 25 years showing up for work with 10-15 calls holding or come work at SPD then I choose the later.
Some guys are already collecting from a previous agency and I applaud you, I believe you are one of them. The way YOU talk sounds like you are trying to place doubt in the minds of newer, younger folks in the agency so they run off and you can fill the coffers with your newly retired friends.... try and show a little more tact.

My advice to the new officers, put in 15% in your 401K from day one. Its all we have, take advatage of it. If you leave down the road you can role
it into deferred comp.

Many departments offer bonus pay and a good starting salary. All police officers are good people and deserve the best. I have no idea what SPD is like, but I hear that there is no retirement and that is not good. I receive a great retirement and working with another agency. I agree you must think about the future. I know a Lieutenant that retired from here, and is trying to live off of social security, his name is Phil Pherris, all the years he gave to the tribe and he lives in a trailer park barely getting by. 401ks just dont get it.
