i also am trying with sso. the pay is the same... now i just need to think do i want to work for a smaller agency or larger agency. i like the idea of mobility and larger area to cover and be able to work. i like the idea of bigger units and more units to get involved in etc... do you all have a swat team? and how many special units do you have and do you get extra money for them.

11-12-2007, 04:20 AM
MTI grad JJ? go elsewhere

11-12-2007, 11:28 AM

SSO PAY INFO

After 01/2008, a new hire with no experience would have a starting base of $41,770. With more than 3 years experience your approximate start would be between $43,000 and $45,000 depending on number of years you have. Max is $60,565.

THEY ISSUES M4 RIFLES AND TAKE HOME CARS.. LOTS OF UNITS , I WOULD LIKE TO GET ON WITH THE MOUNTED UNIT.

11-12-2007, 01:26 PM
THEY ALSO HAVE A NEW UNIT THAT WORKS THE INTERSTATE. THE ENTIRE SARASOTA COUNTY I75 FROM MM 213 TO MM 172. I THINKS IT IS CALLED THE INTERSTATE CRIME ENFORCEMENT UNIT PRETTY COOL TRUCKS THEY DRIVE. I WOULD ALSO LOOK AT MCSO AND CCSO.

11-13-2007, 01:00 AM
CCSO? Are you kidding? Look at all the problems they are having there. Does anyone else notice all the CCSO deputies that left to came to NPPD? The NPPD officers that wash out of FTO that end up in CCSO? In police work that is what we call a clue.

ru nutz?! NPPD has had far more negative press then CCSO. You must be one of the one's that could not take it working for a real agency(CCSO) and went to the po-dunk town..er..I mean city of north port. A couple years ago some deputies did leave and go to NPPD because your starting salary was more but that is no longer. How about the deputies that went to NPPD and then eventually came back to CCSO because they realized NPPD is a nothing agency.

Instead of posting negative things on this forum you should try and help solve some of the cases in your little town (thats what we call police work). That way outside agencies would not have to catch your criminals for you and solve your crimes for you.

Now let me add this disclaimer..I know a few NPPD guys and they are good people and good cops. It is unfortunate idiots like you at NPPD far out number the good guys.

11-14-2007, 03:26 AM
That is kind of funny, CCSo has to catch all of North Ports criminals. The problem is that the criminals hide in Charlotte because it is a dump. Criminals know that they will be hunted down and caught if they stay in North Port. If they go to Charlotte county (AKA trailer trash heaven) they can hide amoung the criminals. CCSO has alot of problems but it stems from the top making bad policy.

11-14-2007, 11:36 AM
come on and n port is not a dump... please

11-14-2007, 11:57 AM
Charlotte County has its bad areas(Most of Port Charlotte) but it also does have its nice areas. What does North Port have to offer besides crappy roads?

Yes CCSO has problems just like any other agency but I would much rather work for CCSO over NPPD. I also highly doubt criminals in North Port are concerned about NPPD catching them. The reason alot of them come to Charlotte County is because Charlotte County is ALOT bigger than North Port and it is easier for them to hide out(So they think) due to the size of the county.

11-14-2007, 11:58 AM
come on and n port is not a dump... please

North Port=DUMP.

11-14-2007, 01:28 PM
i agree Port Charlotte is a real city real roads shopping food, entertainment etc. n port is an unknown place that has no identity. the city if you want to call it that looks dumpy and out of sorts. the roads and lack of lights road markings and lack of side walks and width is un safe and crazy.

11-14-2007, 05:51 PM
I also agree that Port Charlotte has everything that any person that lives in this country should ever want. It's like living in New York City. It's a swell place to live. The sheriff's department is better than the LAPD. They only use the finest lights on their streets. There isn't one street in the county that needs repair. You never have to worry about traffic being backed up. All it's citizens obey all the laws. There is even a new Chik-Filet! wow! Disneyworld...life just doesn't get any beter than Port Charlotte, Fl.!!!!!!!!!!

11-14-2007, 06:16 PM
does anyone work for the City Of Port Charlotte Police Department?

Old Guy

When did Port Charlotte become a City moron?

does anyone work for the City Of Port Charlotte Police Department?

This is just another fine example of the complete a$$ clowns that post BS on this board.

11-15-2007, 09:45 PM
My point was made! Thank you!

11-16-2007, 04:44 AM
Go and give some more tickets to your fellow city workers for doing their jobs. NPPD is the worse agency in the world. It will eventually be taken over by the SO...

11-16-2007, 09:53 AM
boohoo boohoo boohoo

11-16-2007, 11:36 AM
Lets just hope that the SO takes over the mess that they are creating. NPPD has a very bad rep with the public and the majority of them are not respected.

11-16-2007, 04:07 PM
give it time nppd will be taken over one one. the city is heading down the ever so close road to being bankrupt. this city can not maintain and function on the lack of $$$ it has and can make.

11-16-2007, 08:42 PM
blah blah blah blah blah blah

11-16-2007, 09:26 PM
do you really think n port can sustain itself a few more years down the road, i dont and many other forecasters think this also.

11-16-2007, 09:39 PM
The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

11-16-2007, 11:43 PM
Does it really take 9 years to make $60,000? If so, that is NOT very good! Good luck with that.

12-11-2007, 09:07 AM
Will the dispatchers also be getting a raise? I see there's an opening now and the salary is $30,656.20. Do they wear uniforms? Any type of dispatch info. would be helpful - like what are their hours, do they get uniform allowance, 8 or 12 hr. shifts, what type of rotation, how often do they change shifts, how many supervisors and how is the environment?

Also, why is the city making 2 part-time records positions instead of one? That's being cheap and not helping the growing number of workers that need good jobs.

12-12-2007, 12:57 AM
BE happy with 8 yrs to max out. SSO is 12 yrs to hit 58000.

12-14-2007, 05:30 PM
who knows for all we know this city will be bankrupt in a few years.

well you have to admit this city could go either way.... not much going on here. everyone works in sarasota or pt charlotte, not much to do here. everyone hangs in sarasota, not north port. drive around this town after dark, boring :P

12-14-2007, 11:12 PM
Maybe you would hang out in Sarasota Queenie!

12-15-2007, 03:29 PM
YA NORTH PORT HAS SO MUCH GOING ON THIS TOWN IS ROCKIN, IF YOU WANT TO BE A COP AND GET ACTION OR YOUR SINGLE THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO WORK OR LIVE.

12-30-2007, 03:21 PM

Nothing like the simple life for some departments. Officers writing code violations for grass one inch too tall.
Barking dog complaints, trash cans out front of a house eight hours before pick-up. Handicap permit on dash and not hanging from mirror.
Yep the simple life for a simple department.
And thanks for the people who wanted to be real cops and not glorified city nannies.

You are mistaking us for property standards. Get your facts straight, I'm a man!!!!!!!!

12-31-2007, 05:18 AM
Get with the times, it is almost 2008. Male nannies make up about 2% of proffesion but they have been around for awhile.
They are often refered to as mannies.
