Law enforcement work trained in methods of law enforcement, crime detection and prevention and who has been given authority to maintain the peace, safety and order of the community. Processes complaints and investigations involving the enforcement of all laws and codes and any violations thereof; carry out orders received from superior officers. Submits accurate reports depicting actual facts of an investigation as it transpired. Communication skills verbally and grammatically written report skills for internal and external documents. Knowledge of: Department and City rules and regulations, Florida State Statutes (civil and criminal). Must meet all minimum requirements for the position of a police officer as per Florida State Statute 943 and must have received police officer certification from the State of Florida. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.

i also am trying with sso. the pay is the same... now i just need to think do i want to work for a smaller agency or larger agency. i like the idea of mobility and larger area to cover and be able to work. i like the idea of bigger units and more units to get involved in etc... do you all have a swat team? and how many special units do you have and do you get extra money for them.

After 01/2008, a new hire with no experience would have a starting base of $41,770. With more than 3 years experience your approximate start would be between $43,000 and $45,000 depending on number of years you have. Max is $60,565.

THEY ISSUES M4 RIFLES AND TAKE HOME CARS.. LOTS OF UNITS , I WOULD LIKE TO GET ON WITH THE MOUNTED UNIT.

ru nutz?! NPPD has had far more negative press then CCSO. You must be one of the one's that could not take it working for a real agency(CCSO) and went to the po-dunk town..er..I mean city of north port. A couple years ago some deputies did leave and go to NPPD because your starting salary was more but that is no longer. How about the deputies that went to NPPD and then eventually came back to CCSO because they realized NPPD is a nothing agency.

Instead of posting negative things on this forum you should try and help solve some of the cases in your little town (thats what we call police work). That way outside agencies would not have to catch your criminals for you and solve your crimes for you.

Now let me add this disclaimer..I know a few NPPD guys and they are good people and good cops. It is unfortunate idiots like you at NPPD far out number the good guys.

That is kind of funny, CCSo has to catch all of North Ports criminals. The problem is that the criminals hide in Charlotte because it is a dump. Criminals know that they will be hunted down and caught if they stay in North Port. If they go to Charlotte county (AKA trailer trash heaven) they can hide amoung the criminals. CCSO has alot of problems but it stems from the top making bad policy.

Yes CCSO has problems just like any other agency but I would much rather work for CCSO over NPPD. I also highly doubt criminals in North Port are concerned about NPPD catching them. The reason alot of them come to Charlotte County is because Charlotte County is ALOT bigger than North Port and it is easier for them to hide out(So they think) due to the size of the county.

I also agree that Port Charlotte has everything that any person that lives in this country should ever want. It's like living in New York City. It's a swell place to live. The sheriff's department is better than the LAPD. They only use the finest lights on their streets. There isn't one street in the county that needs repair. You never have to worry about traffic being backed up. All it's citizens obey all the laws. There is even a new Chik-Filet! wow! Disneyworld...life just doesn't get any beter than Port Charlotte, Fl.!!!!!!!!!!

Will the dispatchers also be getting a raise? I see there's an opening now and the salary is $30,656.20. Do they wear uniforms? Any type of dispatch info. would be helpful - like what are their hours, do they get uniform allowance, 8 or 12 hr. shifts, what type of rotation, how often do they change shifts, how many supervisors and how is the environment?

Also, why is the city making 2 part-time records positions instead of one? That's being cheap and not helping the growing number of workers that need good jobs. :wink:

FORT MYERS -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office plans an open house and recruitment drive next month to try to recruit members for the force.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 12. at 14750 Ben C. Pratty Six-Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers.

There will be demonstrations from the Sheriff's Office Mobile Communications and Command Center, Aviation Unit helicopter, K-9s, SWAT Team, Corrections Emergency Response Team, Bomb Squad, Marine Unit watercraft, Traffic Unit motorcycles and patrol cars, the agency said. There will also be facility tours.
