ST. PETERSBURG -- Police arrested a Largo police employee Sunday and charged her with disorderly intoxication.

Police say Kathleen Louise Johnson, 62, of 955 51st St. N, Apt. 108, was arrested about 9:50 p.m. Sunday after she was seen standing in the street and hitting her head on cars at 4931 10th Ave. N.

Johnson, a records clerk, was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, Johnson "stated she had too much to drink that night and couldn't explain her action,'' said St. Petersburg police sspokesman George Kajtsa.

I don't care if she is "a good person," or if she "made a big mistake." Those aren't the issues. What happened is she was charged with disorderly intox and RESISTING arrest. Someone who commits crimes should not work at a police department. She has access to reports, phone numbers, information, etc. that could compromise criminal cases and officers safety. I hope OPS does the right thing and escorts her out the front door.

The quote was, "People who commit crimes should not be allowed to work at a police department." Or something to the effect. Ever roll a joint, genius? I bet you did, at least once. It's a misdemeanor. Turn in your uniform. You are out of a job.

Thanks for asking, but nope, never did.

I also have never obstructed a police officer in the performance of his/her duties.

Is it too much to ask that department employees not be arrested? Or is a misdemeanor still ok for you? Beat up your spouse, post bond, and come on in for your shift works for ya?

How about a simple rule: don't commit any f-'in crimes? Or is that too much to ask for some of you?

There was this officer in Clearwater that was a corporal and worked on CPRW. He had access to lots of stuff and is still there. Oh, he did lose a stripe. I'd give a stripe for a career anyday.

True people with records shouldn't work in law enforcement..hey maybe we should tell Pasco county S.O. that, don't they have a few guys with arrests of their own working on the road? Gattuso rings a bell.
