Head of Tampa Bay area FDLE office retires early
TAMPA -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent in charge of the Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center announced an early retirement Monday amid an investigation that his assistant violated a department policy, the office said.

FDLE spokeswoman Kristen Perezluha said today that the two events are "not connected."

Lance Newman had served as the special agent in charge of the FDLE Tampa office since October 2002. He has been with the FDLE for more than 23 years, Perezluha said.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Moses Jordan has been placed on administrative leave. Perezluha said that FDLE's executive investigation unit is looking into allegations that he may have violated departmental policy.

"Since that is an ongoing department investigation, I can't say anything further," Perezluha said.

The department launched its investigation into Jordan on Oct. 24.

Special agents from across the state are rotating into the office's top slot until Newman's replacement is named.

The FDLE Tampa Bay region includes Citrus, Sumter, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk and Hardee counties.

No one really knows what's up with Moses. Lance is fall-out, tho everyone thought something's been in the works to get them out. Today HQ apparently put out a press release but didn't tell anyone in Tampa...so the media starts showing up and filming. nice

Rumors already going around about who's coming in.

They did nothing that if done would only be a oral repremand in any other job.

But we are held to that higher standard, a much higher standard

They were not corrupt, just loyal.. loyal to each other not even in a criminal sense but more in a "I should have known better sense"

tell me one profession.. one person that has not had a lapse of good judgement.

But you still have your job , they dont

You might want to wait and read the EI reports (if they ever see the light of day) before making that broad of a statement. I don't think any agency would knowingly tolerate falsifying reports, conduct unbecoming, playing fast and loose with the inventory, etc. It was discovered on Lance's watch, so he went down with the ship.

Is it just me or is the porn industrial taking over every aspects of the web?

I think that when the light of day comes, it will be more over female and papework, than inventory.

As Broderick Crawford would say..."10-4....10-4....10-4."

I understand that Moses is still on the FDLE payroll burning leave until he retires. Can anyone confirm that rumor?

Emerson was fired within a week of the complaint being filed!

What happened was that the FDLE administration sold out their own loyal members to political pressure in the community. Did you know that they never even interviewed Lance about any incidents under investigation regarding Moses? Don't take my word, look at the EI Investigative summary, I did. Ask yourself why? Why would the administration not even talk to an FDLE member who was part of their leadership Team regarding any perceived issues involving Moses or the region? It should make you wonder? You are trained cops and investigators. Look beyond the reported rhetoric put forth by the agency and the media. Its water under the bridge now but should be something every SAC in FDLE should be concerned about? Lance and Moses were good to the people in the Tampa Region and had excellent relationships with local L.E. I am sure they are doing fine and their service a loss for the agency.

I didn't know Lance and Moses except in passing. What you have to ask yourself is what did Jerry Bailey do under Tim Moore? Well Bailey was the ax man. When ever evil had to be done then Bailey stepped in. This should tell you what type of agency we have?

What are you smoking? Falsified inventories, missing firearm, coverups? The Executive Summary is for the limited reasoning abilities and short attention spans of most executives. Lance got thrown under the bus because he didn't do his job. Granted, keeping Moses in reign would have been like herding cats, but he just stuck his head in the sand. SAS's tried to get Lance to do the right thing; he should have taken their advice.
