In the process

Hello all im currently processing for the beach, currently certified with another agency just wanted to get your feedback about your department....

Despite what you may read here, this is the best damn department anywhere...period! Like any other career/job, there are some negatives, but our positives far out weigh them. Good luck in your process.

it was a great dept. before former chief don de l**** got his messy hands in it and destroyed it. we are on a rebound now with a new competent chief.

well i have heard nothing but good things from other leo's who had wished to join but did not. I am just hoping that process goes quickly.

whats the retirement there?

under chief dd, noone new what the retiremet was. if you were one of his buddies, you retired, came back as a civilian and watched his back. we'll se under cn

1- 18 months probation
2- Take home car after 18 months if you reside in broward/dade
3- A lot of off duties and good amount of ot
4- Very minimal crimes for the most part
5- Upward/lateral mobility are ok


6- If you want the 18 months probation back, you'll have to purchase it with your own funds. (sucksssssss) or you'll loose it to the city.

7- 26 1/4 years for a full retirement. 90% of top 2 yrs, however, you cant make more than the next highest rank. ??

8- You can buy back up to 4 yrs military/law enforcement and up 2yrs of life experience at a 3% multiplier.

9- 10 hrs shift, 4 days on 3 days off.

10- 10% contribution every pay period toward pension.

11- FOP for our union, ~$25.00 pay period.



12- Technology wise, we're approx 10 yrs behind agencies our size or smaller.

Depends. Our Chief use to like Goatees but now they disgust him.
