In an apartment building in Pembroke Pines, the chase for accused cop killer Sean LaBeet ended late Thursday in a second confrontation with Miami-Dade police officers. The first confrontation ended in the death of a police officer. The second ended in his death, after police say he opened fire when they tried to arrest him.

CBS4 sources say the end came at an apartment complex at 305 SW 83rd Avenue Pembroke Pines, following a search for LaBeet that started early Thursday afternoon.

"We got him", one police source told CBS4 News.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, who once headed the Miami-Dade police Department, detailed how LaBeet was captured.

"The confronted him. There was an exchange of gunfire. The subject was shot and killed," Alvarez said.

After receiving a tip Thursday evening that LaBeet was hiding in an apartment complex in Pembroke Pines, Miami-Dade sent its SWAT team. Miami-Dade's SWAT team attempted to make the arrest, assisted by the Pembroke Pines police department.

Alvarez said LaBeet was armed and had an extra clip of ammunition when he confronted police.

Nothing better than to see justice served right there by a cops bullet. Game over, story just ended, no more waisted time in the court system. The wild animal died as a wild animal, JUSTICE SERVED!

The message must be sent loud and clear. If you point a gun at a police officer prepare to pay the ultimate price. To the killer of Dep. Reyka...you're next

Justice has indeed been served. GREAT JOB to all involved in sending this piece of human garbage to the dump. I am very thankful that no other officers were injured in his capture. I pray that the other 3 officers will make a full recovery. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the slain officer. MAY HE REST IN PEACE. God Bless you all.

Labeet case appealled to the SUPREME COURT !!! $5.00 worth of ammo saved the State of Florida a ton of money in keeping the scrote alive for 20 yrs so he could be put to sleep by lethal injection. GOOD JOB GUYS!
The thoughts and prayers of every current and former LEO in the country are with the families and the police victims.
Too many of us have paid the ultimate price. It's about time the bad guy got his.

I just want to tell everyone involved in the bringing this dirtbag to justice, that you all performed beyond anyone's expectations.

I hope dedbeat scumbag Labeet met the same blaze of fire as the one he greeted the Miami-Dade Department Officers yesterday.

I know this will not bring Jose Somohano back to his family in brown, his children and wife but it let the public know that we are all family regardless of the color we wear or what capacity we hold in any Police Department and this is not going to be tolerated.

Let us keep the Somohano family in our prayers and close to our hearts as well as the Miami-Dade Police Department personnel during this horrible senseless loss.

God bless.

YOU CAN'T EVEN CALL HIM AN ANIMAL BECAUSE ANIMALS EAT THEIR KILL. NOT KILL JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO.

THANK YOU, you just rid us of a rabid dog. And Anyone looking at this guy for shooting the BSO Sergeant? He had a lot of guns. Car seen leaving was white. He had outstanding warrants. Did the good sarge walk up on this guy before this incident?

Great job guys!!! I hope the last thing Dirtbag Labeet saw was the badge or patch of the Miami-Dade PD, as a round penetrated his empty cranium and took him down to meet Lucifer! May he forever remember that you mess with the bull, you get the horns!

God Bless you all and thank you for everything you do everyday!

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this incident, their families, and of course, our fallen brotheren.

To our fallen brother..."Rest well now and know that we will stay and fight in your memory and dedicate ourselves to protecting those you have left behind for us to care for!!! We thank you for your sacrifice and have seen that justice has been served. We love you and look forward to our meeting again in the future! GOD BLESS YOU!"

Until we meet again...
