Capitol Police

Do most capitol police go on to become special agents? Or are they mostly retired from other departments? I'm just curious as to the reason one would become a capitol p.o. given the low salary compared to other police agencies.

I don't know of any Capitol Police officers that have become Special Agents.

I know of at least one in Tally and several in Miami.

In the last 2-3 months 3 CP officers were promoted to Special Agents ( 2 others promoted to SA about 10 months ago), 3 were promoted to Security Agents (Gov.'s detail), 1 went to FHP, and 1 to ABT.

It's a mix, there are a lot of young folks, and some retired LEO's.

There are no security agents any longer. The position was eliminated when Mike Granger became a Special Agent. I didn't know that ones that became agents recently. Do they have any experience?

There are 3 new security agents at the Mansion. They are primarily gonna be doing midnights at the Mansion. I hear the detail is going to be downsized eventually now that Bush is not in office.
