Are you able to add lights to your take home car? If so I was wondering if anyone could provide a copy of their policy or procedure on adding lights to a department vehicle. Our union is pushing to allow our Deputies to put lights in our cars so we are looking to mirror other agencies policies. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you and stay safe.

Not aware of any Policy pertaining adding extra lights (not to say there is not one though). It was practice with our other chief for an officer wanting to add extra warning lights, to write a memo via chain of command and state the lights would be purchased by the officer, would not cause any permanent damage to the vehcile and would increase the awareness of other motorist therefore, increasing officer safety.

Don't know if this helps you?

Maybe some people like lights, maybe some people like to be seen, maybe some people choose to spend their money and not waste it because that LIKE THEM.....why go waste your money on sunglasses? or Holsters? or duty gear? the department gives it to you....sh*t why buy a gun?
