Having been around the last time Butterworth was Sheriff, I would agree that he was a good Sheriff at the time. However Butterworth and Jenne are good friends and I don’t see any big changes made in the upper staff, so don't expect anything different until an election is done. God help us all.

Here is the reason that Butterworth will not come back to be the sheriff of Broward county. With his fresh law degree from Florida State University, Jenne joined the Broward County state attorney's office in 1972 as an assistant prosecutor, launching his career as a public servant.

He soon teamed up with another young prosecutor, Bob Butterworth -- who would later become a pioneering Florida attorney general and eventually head the state's Department of Children & Families.

Butterworth and Jenne made a name for themselves by pursuing public corruption cases in the county building department. The two were soon known as Batman (Butterworth) and Robin (Jenne).

At 28, Jenne went on to become one of the leaders of modern-day Broward as executive director of the board that helped craft the county's charter.

Butterworth will not step on Jenne's toes in this case as they are still friends.
