Im' FL certified with 3.5 years on the road. If someone could tell me about the department. How does the agency handle the shifts, ie 4 days on 3 off, rotating schedule etc.? Typically what would the starting pay be for someone with a few years of experience? What would one be looking at for a say a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area?

Thanks

HR will offer you something a step or 2 above entry most likely. We work 8 x 5's and shifts are bid 2x per year. Alpha pays more. They are talking about 4 x 10's but it's probably a ways off.

don't rent.....rents are equal to mortgage payments here and the housing market is still slumping so you can find bargains (relatively speaking) and at least 1 bank (Bank of America, I believe) has special loan programs for cops that require very little $$$ up front.

you can get an app online

Working here? DON'T :!: At least not right now. We've got several things to straighten out. This was once one of if not the best Dept. in the County. It's just a shell of it's former self.
