Went to the FDLE web site to see the stats.

I was shocked to see that the City of Bradenton has much less crime than the City of Sarasota and they are both about 55,000.
All I read in the paper is how Bradenton is crime ridden but its really the City of Sarasota.

If Newtown were to seperate from the City of Sarasota, then the City of Newtown would have the highest crime rate in the USA!!!! All the crime is in the City of Newtown!!!!

IACP recommends 2.2 officers per 3000 citizens and SPD has (last count) 3.6 officers per 3000 citizens.

You mean per 2.2 per 1,000 people

06-30-2007, 03:59 PM
You're right. My mistake. The IACP recommends 2.2 officers for every 1000 citizens.
