I see a need for funeral escort services in Pinellas County. But want to know the LEO's take on such a service. Any legality issues that you can think of? Service would be high end, professional, not fly by night wanna be cops kind of thing. Just wondering before I spend the time researching this further. Thanks.

I would think the law enforcement agency would be held responsible should there be an accident during the procession as they are there solely for the purpose of guiding funeral traffic for hire.

I know of a cop who went out on disability because he claimed carrying a casket for a fellow officer caused damage to his arm/elbow.

What would you think the liability would be if a law enforcement intenty, or a private intenty was willing to take the risk to stop traffic for a funeral possession? Car doesn't see the car/stopped traffic and plows thru say my car during a funeral possession when there was supposed to be a hired company to make sure this didn't happen in the first place?

Start with finding insurance first, and that would probably answer your question!
