i am right now in the middle of a back ground check in st pete should i try a nother department ..is st pet going to lay off people please let me know thank you

SPPD does not appear to have any plans to lay anyone off. That does not mean that you should not apply to other departments. I thought that SPPD was the only department that would sponsor me through the academy, but I was wrong. I have seen several cadets who have been hired by CPD, Pinellas Park, and Largo PD while they are still in the academy. Don't sweat it reguardless of what path you chose, for there will always be a need for sharp new officers in Law enforcement.
