BONUS IS BULLCRAP

While in session the governor and the Florida Legislature passed the anti-crime bill which will
place more criminals in state prisons, and a bill restoring the rights of released offenders. At the
same time the following things occurred at Charlotte Correctional Institution. Officers are being
required to work double shifts (16 hours) because of lack of staff. A sergeant was taken hostage
by an inmate with a homemade knife, two officers were injured by an inmate with a homemade
knife. Another sergeant is assaulted by an inmate who was to be released the next day.
These are things that happen every day at state institutions all over the state. The state budget
calls for corrections officers to receive a one-time "bonus" that will net about $700 after taxes.
The officers of the state have been assaulted again -- this time by the Florida Legislature. It is an
insult to every state law enforcement officer.

You are right, but nothing is ever going to change in Florida. If you dont like it then do not hang around thinking things will get better, you are only lying to yourself. The past 12 years or so have been proof of that. Be smart and get a job elsewhere. You can always come back if things get better, but you will always regret not moving on if you decide to stay.

since in our law makers wisdom, the only way to solve problems is to make something into law. since we all know that when you put it into law, the problem goes away. based on the day in the life account above, we most certainly need a law against home knives in the prison. while they are at it, no more prison raping, thats just nasty. see you at the polls!
